Audi has confirmed their plans to debut a four-door E-Tron Gran Turismo at their annual press conference that took place this week. What’s more, the automaker has even released a shadowy teaser image of what could be the concept model.

“We interpret sportiness very progressively with our fully electric e-tron GT, and this is how we will take our high-performance brand Audi Sport into the future,” said Rupert Stadler, Audi AG’s chairman of the board of management.

Judging by the rendering, the E-Tron GT will not be lacking in sportiness with its raked roofline and short rear overhang. Once released, Audi’s zero-emissions grand tourer should occupy the same niche as both the Porsche’s Mission E and Tesla Model S. Offering something to those who want to go green but with in a sleeker package.

MotorTrend claims the E-Tron GT will go into production early next decade at Audi’s Böllinger Höfe facility near Neckarsulm, Germany. That’s the same plant where the new E-Tron Quattro SUV will be made and that model is powered by three electric motors delivering 429-496 hp.

The E-Tron GT is just the beginning because Audi plans to have more than 20 electrified models in their portfolio by 2025.

Love that we're getting so many 4 door performance ev's to choose from, but it sure looks like they are all going to sit in a pretty high price bracket. Hopefully down the line, we start to see more entry level models. Like what Tesla did with the Model 3.

Heard Audi may even be planning an e-tron supercar to rival the Tesla Roadster and Rimac Concept One EV. Back in 2015, there was talk of an EV based on the R8 though there was never any production confirmation for that model. Motoring spoke with Audi’s global boss of product and technology communications and he hinted at a future extreme supercar, though battery technology will need to be improved first.
