When installing a 48 amp EVSE, a 60 amp circuit breaker is needed, correct?

I’m sure the answer is yes, but I had a little argument with the electrician about this.

I mentioned to him from the get go that it is a 48 amp EVSE. He used a 50amp breaker...

He than said he would have to look for it. Than, 2 weeks later, he installed it and wanted to charge me!!

Anyhow, I just wanted to post this up so I could vent...

Man, we love our E Tron! It’s super nice!!!! I wish I had to work today, so that I could go for a drive!! (The wifey took it to work.)

I use the Audi 40A charger on a line with a 40A breaker, even though the line is rated up to 50A. I don't think you want the breaker to be rated much above the amperage for the device you are powering. After all, you want the breaker to trip before the rated amperage is exceeded.

Yep, the small manual that came with the unit mentioned 125% as well. I took a pic and sent it to the electrician.
