Audi Q8 Etron, Whos ordering?

2920 Views 26 Replies 14 Participants Last post by  johnarpy
I just got a prerelease pdf from my dealer which mentions prespec orders to begin Jan 2023, then April free spec orders.

I am interested in getting the Q8 as for me it fills the void of having a car that looks normal (Normal Q8) but just in electric form. I was likely going to do a free spec order but might do a prespec order now.

Also unsure if I want the normal Q8 or the Q8 Sportback....

Let me know what you guys are thinking and whether the normal or Sportback.

The 5% increase, non $7500 and whatever the dealer is pumping would cause me to pause! There seems to be a softening going on. I got my 22 right before the credit stopped. I would not be in the market at this point personally.
Given the existing software clusterfrack that is the Q4, any prudent person should give the Q8 a wide berth till it can be seen if its any better than the Q4.
I already purchased the extended warranty for my 2019. Given that the Q8 is mostly the same car, I have until 2027 to figure out if I want something else or keep it even longer (I tend to keep cars longterm). Sure, the larger battery would be nice but so far the range is sufficient your what I use the car for.

My dealer wanted a 10k markup for the new Q8 etron. Let's see without the EV credit if this car will face high demands.

How much different than the current e-tron SUV do you expect the Q8 software to be? The Audi app isn’t reliable, but haven’t had any real issues with the car software itself.

This does a pretty good comparison: A new name and improved efficiency—we drive the 2023 Audi Q8 e-tron

Sorry, I meant to put “software” after Q8 in that line. From everything I’ve seen I wouldn’t expect the software to differ much, so not sure what the Q4 has to do with anything in rdgrimes’s response I was quoting.

We in Canada get new cars at MSRP And MSRP only (but now with a Luxury tax).
I've opted to wait for the Q6.

I have a 2019 Q8 just had to drop $2200 ina new generator. The size is still the same as the 2022 Etron but looks like Q8. I’ll wait
to the gentleman above, that starter generator should have been free.... Why did you have to pay for it? Its a known issue. I would call your Audi dealer ASAP!

whos your local dealer?
I've placed an order for a Q8 e tron. To me the improvements address the issues that I have with my 2019 e tron, which in all other respects is a great car. It may be, too, that I am hooked on Coast Regen driving, given that I don't like One-Pedal. Normally, I would never place an order for a car sight unseen, but in this case this is a chance for Audi to really work on improving a car that already has good bones, and I am familiar with those bones. Given that Tesla's car MY updates have been spit out in bits and pieces, this Q8 e tron is a first in the EV car industry---a model introduction that is based substantially previous models. The EV car makers are not going to completely reinvent the wheel everytime they come out with a new version.

I got my GT on a lease with the intent to migrate to the PPE platform when it arrives, so long as it has bidirectional charging. I really don't want to buy a Powerwall for the house and the US grid is about to find itself under a very different load profile than it was designed for, so expecting lots of blackouts in the future. I just want to keep the refrigerators on and maybe a few lights at night, but will need batteries for that all the same.

I placed my order for a Q8 e tron Sportback Prestige 2/28/23. Last week my Dealer contacted me and said my car completed production and gave me the VIN. The Dealer website shows my car in the Incoming Inventory "In transit from Factory". The rep said once it is on the ship, they can give me an estimated arrival date. I thought Audi was supposed to do a big push for the Q8 e tron in April, but beyond listing eight Q8 E tron SUVs and one Q8 Sportback (mine) as being in transit, there is no mention of the Q8 e tron on the Dealer website.
I've had a 2022 GT and a 2019. 2021 and 2022 e-tron. Loved them all. Trading in last one for a 2024 Q8 e-tron mainly because of the greater distance. They're delivering it today.

Congratulations! My Dealer tells me my Q8 Sportback is on the ship to the US and should be in Portland, Oregon, in the latter half of June.
,
Just got it today. Interior is basically the same, other than it's a launch edition which adds gray interior and orange stitching. Outside it's similar but has different wheels and front end. It's still great, but with more miles per charge.
The steering is supposed to be a little more taut with more feel of the road. Do you notice any difference?
