Auxiliary climate control - alarm goes off

Hi there

I recently bought an Audi approved used 2021 Q4 etron 35. Since picking it up there seems to be an issue with the alarm. it goes off randomly when parked and no obstructions in sight, and it also goes off when I attempt to activate auxiliary climate control from the Myaudi app. I am also getting random notifications from the app that says climate control has been set and started even though I have not scheduled it to start and I haven’t activated it myself on the app.

I’ve taken it to the dealership a couple of times and apparently the alarm is fine when the car is with them. They’ve run some checks and they can’t identify the problem. I’ve also turned off the interior notion sensors.

Wondering if anyone has had the same issue? Yesterday I deleted the Myaudi app as I suspected maybe it was sending signals to the car to set it off, and it would seem the alarm didn’t go off all night. I will be monitoring it again today.

also one final thing when I recharge I sometimes get 150miles at 80% but this drops immediately to 120miles when I start the car. I have the car in efficiency mode and the AC is turned off. Should I be seeing such a drop in range? The temperature in UK right now is about 6 degrees Celsius.

I would love any insights to save us from more sleepless nights.

for the alarm it does seem sensor issue, is the Q4 parked in or outside? you bought from an Audi dealer so you should be able to get all history and see if the issue was with previous owner. cat?

The 35 model has a smaller battery IIRC so the range is probably in spec .......for my Q4, the range distance indicator does quickly display a decrease after driving a short way from being charged but I tend to ignore that and monitor the battery state of charge.

yes the car is parked outside, in a very quiet cul the sac. I am trying to track down the service history of the car, the dealer was the previous owner. we have deleted our audi apps and noticed that the issue is happening less frequently we suspect it is something to do with the relay between the app and the car. this might explain why they aren't able to witness the same problem happen when it is at the dealership

I think the key symptom is the alarm going off with an attempt to activate the HVAC from the myAudi app. Something must be seriously wrong in the onboard electronics for that to happen, IMO.

If the dealer hasn’t seen fit to do so, a hard reboot of the MMI and “restore to factory settings” would probably be a place to start. But it may be a hardware issue. These cars are rolling computers.

Not to fear monger, but another possibility is that a prior owner still has access to the vehicle through myAudi, perhaps unintentionally. That's another good reason to wipe stored settings from the MMI. Or it could be messed up at Audi's servers. I have very little faith in the myAudi "service" and I've been trying to convince my wife not to use it. It's a hot mess.

Does the myAudi app have a "panic button" by any chance? ( I wouldn't know... )

I have the same issue with my 2023 Q4 Etro when activating the auxiliary climate control remotely. I took it to the dealership they said it was an issue with my key panic button and a replacement would be $1000. I went home and used my spare brand new key and the same issue exists. I am at a loss and frustrated with the dealership for suggesting a potentially unnecessary replacement key.
