Hi there,

I was wondering if somebody else got a call from their dealership about the replacement of a „battery module“.

I‘ll have to leave the car for three days next week.

My model is an Audi Q4 Sportback 50 e-tron 2022.

I have reposted this here as I fear, reading the above, I can see which way this is heading.

I initialy reported a fault with the cabin temerature switch not working. Dealer asked for a video of my finger operating the switch!
I think it was then that they realized that the HV cells had not been checked yet.

Outcome:
Book car in for a day (earliest appointment 3 weeks time). Software and some update to High voltage battery needs to be tested. Then, if required, car will need to come back after parts ordered and specialist mechanic returns from maternity leave. You couldn't make it up.

Unfortunately "Yes". I had dropped the car off on May 23rd, 2024 to have a couple of recalls taken care of. The 3rd recall on the portable charger can be addressed on in December as the parts were unavailable. I got a call a week later telling me that one of the modules did not pass the High-Tension Test? I believe that was the terminology used...The car has been at the dealer ever since. Thankfully, I do have a loaner from the dealer. My 2022 Q4, Prestige version, has 45045 miles on it. It does not give me confidence that the rest of the modules will last long. The warranty on the battery is 100000 miles. The cost to replace a module is approximately $8000. The current work will be performed under warranty. I drive quite a lot. So I wanted to see if I can Trade-in the car and buy a normal gas-powered car. Trade-in value, $33000. Called Audi for a trade-in assist. They would not budge. Instead asked me to guy extended warranties on the car. So I am stuck with this car that costed me $77500 on the road. I hope the battery will last, especially after the integrity of the battery pack will no longer be to Factory standards..Time will tell.

Hi everybody,
Newbie clocking in for the first time, so be very gentle with me.
our new Q4 e tron started playing up; it was undriverble, it would not pre warm because it were too cold!!!,??,?
Anyway, the RAC came and it was taken to the Audi dealership in Blackburn Lancs; they said we would need a new 12volt battery and would need to come from Germany but would take 7-10 working days! So no-one in this country has a 12v battery? It's special they said.
RAC would supply a courtesy car...IF THEY HAD ONE, all there cars were out because of the snow! But they found one 7 days later, it was petrol, very small, a very basic model, but hey we could get along with it for a couple more days.
We phoned Audi BLACKBURN and left a message for whoever was dealing with our car, but no returned call, after 4 attempts over several days we got through to the service dept then to parts....they found our paperwork and searched for the order for this battery, however this battery was on back order, but with no expected delivery date!
Couldn't they just borrow a battery from the showroom Q4? No they are not allowed to do that!
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, RAC want their car back and were going to search out another car for us.
Doing some internet and forum searches, information is a bit jumbled about 12volt batteries and battery modules. Its looking like there is a global problem with the Q4 batteries and Q4 customers are having to wait in excess of 8-10 weeks for the return of their cars.
Can anyone shed any more light about this or similar problems

The 8-10 week turnaround ( or thereabouts ) is if a module needs to be replaced in the high voltage “traction” lithium ion battery. There are several issues there, including scarcity of trained technicians to do the work.

As for the 12V lead acid battery, there are a couple types that have been used, with different propensity for failure and/or ill behavior. Some of them may have been abused during transport. Unfortunately, if that 12V battery is acting up it can cause a surprising amount of weirdness with the vehicle electronics, possibly including random vehicle shutdowns in the middle of high speed roadways.

So the service center isn’t just yanking your chain. It is probably in the long-term best interest of your vehicle and your sanity to get a good 12V battery installed ( technically an advanced EFB design ) and those seem to be a bit scarce. Good luck.
