Anyone experience this charging behavior? I wanted to charge up to 80% this morning, SOC was around 67%. Plug it in, works as normal, but then my CPF clicks off, car light flashes white. After a few seconds, cycles back, everything works again for only 5 minutes…keeps doing this. I thought it might be my CPF but it worked fine on my wife’s iX last night, but just to make sure I up the BMW from 80% to 90%, no problem. So not a problem with my CPF.
I then pull the GT out of my garage and then pull it back in (bc stupid App says “vehicle not parked safely”..which it was, but I wasn’t sure if that might be a contributing factor). Try my CPF again and same behavior as above. I then decide to try the portable charger for the first time, and same behavior as with my CPF…cycles on off, but with a Yellow light indicator on the portable charger indicating from the manual (I had to check) that the “charging process has ended successfully” yet I’m still at 67% SOC? (BTW, I tried both ports on each side of the GT with the portable charger and no workie).
This got me thinking maybe the car thinks it’s already at 80%, but it’s not according to MMI or App. So then I decide to up the intended charge from 80% to 100% in the App. Use my CPF again, cycles on/off 1 time, but knock on wood, has been going strong on green ever since.
So curious if anyone else has experienced this charging behavior and it’s just a fluke and I can save myself a trip to the dealer and added anxiety nobody needs! Lol
