Can the E-Tron cabin be pre-conditioned remotely via the myAudi App or otherwise (similar to the Tesla, and as advertised by Mercedes for their upcoming EQC)? We want to be able to turn on the air conditioning or heater via a smartphone well in advance of stepping into the vehicle.

The dealers suggest it can be done, but have not been able to actually demonstrate this ability.

Many thanks!

Thanks so much, CityStig! Very helpful video. I'd still like to know whether the car can be pre-conditioned via a smartphone so that it can be done spontaneously, rather than through a pre-determined date and time.

Would be ideal to for example be able to goto an unscheduled meal on a hot summer day, and 15 minutes prior to entering the car, turn on the air conditioning in the cabin so we don't need to enter an otherwise super hot vehicle. Especially important with babies, which we have.

Tesla can do this. The upcoming Mercedes EQC may be able to do this.

Yes you can do it from myAudi, can do a "start now" which goes for 30 minutes or date time for it to start.

I've got the 2018 A3 e-tron. When I try to program the cabin pre-conditioning from the car itself (not the app), the first step is to turn on the Auxiliary AC. I click the button to do so, get a pop-up window saying that it is now ON, but when that window goes away, the previous screen remains telling me to turn it on. I took it to my local Audi dealership, and spoke to a e-tron 'delivery specialist' who didn't know s**t from shoe polish about this feature. Anybody else encounter this problem? I have the lower of the two models (whatever it's called) so I don't have the same panel featured in the tutorial posted above (May 27/19).

Further to this, on base models in UK/Europe the app will only allow you to switch on and use the last used climate control setting. There is an optional extra 'comfort remote pre-conditioning' for around £100 which will enable the feature in the app to set whatever climate control setting you choose, from the app.

Hi just wondering can the comfort remote pre-conditioning optional extra be bought after the car is purchased mine doesn't have that feature but i would like to get it. Like the functions on demand can be switched on or off Audi.
Thanks in advance.

Sadly not. I enquired about this and was told that it can't be added retrospectively.

Thanks for the swift reply. It's crazy that the lighting features are on functions on demand but not what should be a software update. On the lighting subject do any of you think it's criminal that you buy a car yet Audi can switch off features remotely although you own it and the hard wear is fitted to your car. They are looking for another £2,385 for Matrix lighting and cornering lights. Don't think it's right.
