Audi has unveiled their 4 door electric sedan, that will be based upon the same platform as the upcoming Porsche Taycan. It will produce around 590hp and can reach 62mph in just 3.5 seconds. As it is using the same new age 800v charging system, it will be able to reach 80% in just 20 minutes. Is expected to begin production in 2020, and we will have to wait on pricing and range numbers.

After seeing the Porsche Taycan I had a feeling Audi would want a piece of the action. Now more than ever Porsche and Audi are working closer. Porsche's are often too rich for my blood, Audi equivalents are offered with cheaper trims, which is a big incentive for me.

I think that range is more than adequate and I would imagine that there is a long range model planned as well. While it does seem that Audi's newer electric models are a bit behind rivals in terms of specs, we've yet to see how this proprietary regen system works.

With how most people are going to drive models like the Taycan and E-Tron GT, I don't know how adequate even the most advanced regen systems will be. Efficiency is also going to be heavily influenced on your given route/commute.

That hasn't been an issue for vehicles like the Model S, and it weighs in above 4,500lbs. So long as weight distribution is equal and the center of gravity is kept low, we should see any compromises with the driving characteristics we've come to expect from Audi/Porsche.
