What I though was a legal necessity is going to be optional in the Audi E-Tron. If you want to optimize aerodynamics, Audi is offering something called “virtual exterior mirrors”, which replaces the mirrors with cameras that will display images on OLED screens. So instead of large mirrors you get small protruding cameras that reduce drag and wind noise.

I was wondering how long it would take before we saw one of these concept designs featured in a production model. Though I do see it making a difference in aerodynamics, I am a little concerned over what the costs of replacement will be.
