Electrical System: Malfunction!

I ran into my first serious issue with my ‘21 eTron today. It threw an “Electrical System: Malfunction” error & shut down the car to where I couldn’t drive it. It had to be towed to the nearest dealership. It happened while I was charging at my local Electrify America Charging Station.

I pulled in with 15 miles of charge left on my eTron. I plugged in & activated the charger via MyAudi App as I usually do. I hopped back in the car to work on my laptop while it charged. It made it to 131 miles (~ 60%) of charge when I suddenly heard a loud boom & noticed smoke coming out of the vent on the charging station. I hopped out to see the charger had stopped, and it instructed me to unplug. I turned to my charge port & noticed the flashing red LED. I pressed the button on the side a couple of times to disengage the plug. Fortunately, on the third attempt, the light turned white & it relinquished the charging plug. That’s when I hopped back in my eTron and tried to start it up.

I got the Electrical Systems: Malfunction error as well as a Drive System error. It effectively would not allow me to move/drive my eTron. While it would shift to R and D, it would not move. Luckily, we only needed to get it into N for the tow truck driver to pull it up onto the flatbed.

I’ve not found this error mentioned anywhere yet. I wondered if anyone might be familiar with it & what it entails. Audi Dealership said it could be end of the week before they may have an update for me. I’m most concerned that the EA Charging Station may have fried my eTron, but that’s just me thinking the worst.

I have a 2022 Audi GT Prestige . I took delivery in June 2022 after a year wait. I got my first system malfunction error message while on a highway! My car just shutdown. I have only charged at my home using the ChargePoint charger that we had installed at the house. This happened yesterday so waiting to hear from the dealer. Not encouraged from what I am reading. I am really scared now about this happening again.
My etron has been in the shop for 5 months. Someone knows what are the requirements to be a lemon on Texas. HELP !!!!
Wikipedia says "For a total of 30 days or more - not necessarily all at one time - during the first 24 months or 24,000 miles"
It also says "if a comparable loaner vehicle was provided while the vehicle was being repaired, that time does not count toward the 30 days"
I have no idea what "comparable" would mean in a court of law, but, presumably, if you haven't been able to drive it for 5 months, you'll have a strong case.
How does not letting the GT touch the ground help?
When they say "battery lifts," I imagine there's some special clearance/affordance for the very heavy and high-voltage battery tray. It may be that they can't have more than one battery out of a car at a time, and if the currently-being-fixed car's battery isn't good to put back yet, well, that's probably blocking the next car (yours) in line.
Hi everyone,
There's been an issue (actually it's not an issue, it's a disaster for me) with me Audi e-tron. I bought this car in the mid of 2020 and since then i have driven only 20,000 Km. I was driving back home and i got an error of (Electrical System Fault, Please Contact Workshop). i Unfortunately had to get my car lifted to my home and then to the work shop as well very next day.
The car has been stopped in workshop since then and according to the Audi Service Center here in Pakistan, the problem of the car is with rare motor because of which this happened and now i need to change the that rare motor which is almost for 13000 US Dollars. This is pretty big amount in Pakistan because of which i have not been able to take any decision.
So i wanted to know if anyone has gone through the same and somehow got the warranty claimed even after it was over. kindly let me know a way. as i am bearing big time loss here.

Regards,

The Audi factory warranty claims that it lasts for 4 years and 80,000 km, and that it should be honored anywhere in the world.
You should try contacting Audi in your country, and have the fix covered under warranty.
(Of course, I know nothing about Pakistan, but it seems worth checking.)
wonder if we could do a poll on these failures to see how often they happen, what was the issue/what got replaced, how long it took, year and mileage of the car
Hi, I'm the latest victim of the electrical malfunction issue. I was on a road trip and got hit with the electrical malfunction warning light. I took it to a Las Vegas Audi and they stated it was water in the front motor and had to be replaced. It would be about a 4 week turn around. Since I live in California, I was not offered a rental or loaner by the dealer to get home. I called Audi Concierge and support and was given no support as well. They told me that if I choose to rent a car to get back home that I could submit receipts after my vehicle was repaired and that it would be no guarantee that I would get reimbursed for the 4+ weeks that the vehicle would be in the shop. I asked if I would be compensated for the travel or the reunification of my vehicle and they said no guarantees beyond the 3 day trip interruption. I've been on hold for countless hours with Audi support and haven't gotten absolutely nowhere. Beyond frustrated. Does anybody have any suggestions, any existing class action lawsuits, or just any useful tips to handle this problem?
