Hi all,

was thinking about buying a dash cam for my Q6, has anyone got one of the FitCamX Dash Cam? like the looks of this as it looks OEM with no wires.

Also didnt know if it would affect things like the matrix lights etc...

Ref - car is Edition 1 Quattro.

Thanks,

I have it installed on my Edition 1 SQ6 Prestige and it definitely does look OEM which was my priority since I leased. I will say it was brutal getting the back of the mirror housing off to do the swap and this doesn't give me rear cam visuals or parking mode by tapping but, otherwise, no issues with it to-date.

I have it and it does look oem. I have used them on other cars, was always able to install myself. However, removing the current trim is very tricky. It's been noted by others as well. I had my auto installer folks handle it and was well worth the price to avoid scratching windshield.

But end result is excellent and unit works well.

I've got the FitCamX on my Q8 e-tron, I recently transferred it over from my previous 2019 e-tron. It doesn't interfere with anything, since all it's doing is replacing a blank piece of plastic on the rear of the rear view mirror, and tapping into the rain sensor's power supply with a passthrough cable. Therefore, the car doesn't even know it's installed. Taking the back off the mirror housing is easy once you realise it slides down to come off, and not sideways towards the windscreen. The only negative thing I would say about the FitCamX is that the video quality is a bit on the poor side compared to competitors, albeit much higher priced competitors.

I got the FitcamX for my '21 Sportback about 4 months ago. I went with the additional rear-camera option. I'll echo what others said: it works well and looks factory BUT getting the mirror housing off and fitting everything back in there (especially with the extra wiring from the rear camera) was a challenge for me.
