Seriously considering the Q4 e-tron s line to purchase. OVO energy says that I can get much cheaper charging if we change our plan to EV charge anytime. They are asking this question Can your EV access the internet when you charge at home via Wi-Fi or mobile data? I would appreciate any info for this purpose. I assume yes as I saw a video of how to enable wifi on youtube. To get a charge at 10p per kw rather than 33p that we are paying atm would be a massive saving. TIA

They use Kaluza, which I think they own, to manage inelegant charging to the car via either one of two specific inelegant chargers which they can remote control, or, like Octopus, use Enode API via your My Audi account to remote control the cars charger so that it is only charging at curtain times when in your home location. To do this, your car needs access to the My Audi servers when at home.
The OVO tariff is considerably better than Octopus as the EV tariff is 10p and no uplift on the standard tariff, but only when they are charging your car.

Do the sums very carefully. Intelligent Octopus came out cheaper for my usage pattern. Although OVO call it ‘Anytime’ the small print makes it clear the 10p rate is only applied within OVOs smart charging scheduled hours, charging outside is the full rate. And with OVO you can’t benefit from time shifting appliances such as the dishwasher and washing machine into the off-peak period.
