As long as you have the fob within about 50cm of the given door handle, just grab (or insert your hand between handle and door panel) and it should unlock and when you pull, it will open. The audi locks are very silent so you don't hear any noise at all (no relay, no actuator, etc). When locking just touch the rectangular indent of any of the door handles.

The car should flash and beep when locking so you know it took. If you have wing mirrors (not sure what the camera mirrors do, but in the US we got POFMs) set to fold, then they will fold upon touching the rectangle to lock the doors.

NOTE: in some countries only the front doors have the sensors and the rectangles, the US version all doors have the sensors.

Thats what I was going to say - it mentions
  • Keyless go
which basically means - if you are in the car with the key in your pocket then you can start it - no ignition key required.

I'm in the US, but have read other UK entries that say for the 50, keyless entry comes only with the optional Comfort and Sound package, I think.

That is correct - but here in the UK Audi state that the basic features of the car includes

"Keyless Go"

which unfortunately, and sadly in this case, has been taken to mean "Keyless Entry" without reading or understanding Audi's terminology in detail.

Trouble is different car manufacturers describe the keyless options differently and it never makes it that clear what you are getting.

Similar confusion occurs with things like the Parking Aid / Parking Sensors / Park Assist wordings.

Unfortunately not described very well by most companies again, some people think the Parking Aid is where the car parks itself (with you in control of accelerator(gas)/brake) and not that it relates to sensors etc around.
