In an effort to make the E-Tron more profitable, Audi has confirmed that dealers will not be stocking any models of the E-Tron. This is to prevent filling their lots with pre configured E-Trons that buyers may have backed out on. Consumers are fairly comfortable these days buying new vehicles sight unseen. At least we know that when it comes to mechanical issues that electrics are far less likely to experience issues as they have far less moving parts. Have to wait on early test drives/reviews to get insight into the new platform.

Education is a big part of it and the shift in the dealership model that's seeing car makers have booths in malls is shaping this change.

Most automakers are also providing decent warranties on their new electrics, which includes the battery. The only issues that you may encounter with a first generation is software issues, but those aren't typically too involved to address.

One issue I have seen is the inability to transfer warranty between owners. Seen that with Tesla's coverage but they have a long term and really, when last have you seen some move on from Tesla? Most folks I know don't get rid of their Tesla but instead get it a garage companion and sometimes that companion gets replaced :D

I think warranties will become less of an area of concern with electrics, as generally they are more reliable. It's probably only a matter of time before we see subscription services become adopted on a larger scale is well. They've been increasing in popularity across Europe.

So far i'm a fan of what Audi has to offer which covers a wide range of vehicles to choose from. You can go as low as the A4 or as top tier as the Q7.

You can bet within that range will be some EV's for us to use from time to time, especially as the e-tron line up expands.

If you do some simple math of what you normally spend on car to keep it running on a monthly basis, most of the prices we've seen from subscription models are fairly reasonable. I think you could easily spend $1-2k a month in running costs.

It also helps to factor in other features of high value that exist like concierge type service. Its how these luxury brands win customers over, with personalizing the experience.

There are a lot of reasons why the transition away from the typical dealership model is a good thing. Not only will it remove the unpleasant negotiation process, but it will also decrease the impact a given dealership has on the customer experience.

Yep, when they operate as independents and have a lot of control, a lot of work is required to run it right. Seen disastrous dealers in my time, few exceed customer needs.
