Q4 A/C Malfunction

Owned our 2022 Q4 e-tron less than a month and received an A/C Malfunction error code. We have a service appointment in a few days. We are disappointed but understand cars break sometimes. Will update with what service finds. Anyone else go through this process?

Update. Service found the CO2 heat pump was low on CO2. This is the first time they’ve seen this issue so they had to order CO2 gas from a local supplier to fill the system back up and check for leaks. It will be a few days until they get the CO2.
CO2 refrigerant was low from the factory. They performed leak checks on the system and found no leaks. They refilled the system and everything works fine now.

I had the same problem and took it to service center this week. They found the refrigerant low but can’t find any leak. So, just refilled the system. Hope the warning light won’t come back on. Looks like Audi did not even check the refrigerant level before it shipped out the factory?

fluids and gases tend to be topped up by a machine whilst an operator does something else on the car.

It would be odd for these machines to fill incorrectly, although possible.
Our Q4 is going back to service for the third time for AC Malfunction. The car blows no cold air. They replaced a refrigerant hose during the second visit but didn’t work.

So, the second time, I assume they didn’t find the leak but change the hose anyway? How long did it take for you to have 2nd warning light came on after the first refilled.

They said they refilled the system and found refrigerant leaking from a hose but there must be another leak somewhere. It took about 2 months between first and second appointment only because it wasn’t warm enough outside to notice no cold air blowing in the car. Time between second and third appointment is two days.

Thanks for letting me know and keep me posted. Just in case, if mine comes back on, I know where to look for the leak.

Thanks for the update. It is unfortunate you have to wait for 15 days or so. But at least they found the problem and hopefully it will be solved this time.

I randomly checked the app last night and saw our car was at some random persons house 30 miles away from the dealership. We were never updated on our cars status and we were never asked for permission for someone to drive our car to their personal home. We are not happy at all. There’s no need for someone to drive our car to their home to check for an AC refrigerant leak. Replace the valves, fill the system with refrigerant and leave it sitting for a day or two to check for leaks. Absolutely ridiculous.
That’s outrageous. You read about cars used by dealer staff, and when challenged they say it was on a test drive! Did read a post some months ago about a car in for repairs for a week, so the owner tracked it, and one day went to a burger bar at lunchtime. it didn’t end well when the dealer was confronted about the use of his car.
Totally agree.

Totally agree it is ridiculous. They should have let you know and get your agreement before they test drive home.
I talked to the service manager and he said a technician working on the car drove it home without telling my service advisor or the service manager. He was very apologetic and he agreed it should’ve never happened. I’m still frustrated about the situation but there’s not much else to do about it. I just hope my car gets fixed and this doesn’t happen to anyone else again.
I agree there’s not much you can do, but my trust in the dealer would be zero, and no amount of apologies would make it all right. Hopefully the dealer has offered you some form of compensation, be that free service or financial. And I dread to think what would have happened had the technician damaged the car or had an accident on route.

I have heard of cars in the U.K. being used for a trip to the burger van, and even seen driving at high speed while on a so called test drive.
This is why I never use the 'valet' parking options at the airport even if they're cheaper. I'd rather park and get the shuttle bus and take the key with me.
Had to send our car back to service. AC still wasn’t blowing cold air. 4th times a charm?

Text from our service advisor -

“So we got the system adjusted again and the vent temp is blowing out at 38(f). We think there may have been an issue with our machine we are using. It's a new one but we think maybe the calibration was off on it or something. Cause the past couple times when we did the evac on the system it was saying that it pulled out even more than what the system holds. If the system gets too much in it then that can cause it to not function properly. We would like to do a couple short test drives on it if you are ok with that. We just want to make sure it's not leaking out while driving or something.”

It is unfortunate that they can’t fix it right.
