As a new owner of an EV, I am really enjoying it so far. However, I have a concern and would like to inquire if anyone with a 2022 or 2023 Q4 is experiencing a rattling noise coming from the front left side of the car. I don't think it's the shocks because the noise only occurs when going over potholes or road markers, but not over speed bumps. I am wondering if this is a normal design feature or if there is an actual issue that needs to be addressed.

Any information is helpful thank you in advance

Just got my Q4 a week ago. Similar rattling to what you describe but coming from passenger side front. I did the following which seemed to help so far:

-reduced tire pressure from the 51psi the car came with to the 42psi noted on the driver door as the recommended pressure

adjusted the bumpers under the hood that hold the hood firm against the latch when closed. Prior to doing that the hood would give when I pressed down on it after it was latched. Perhaps the hood was vibrating and making noise on bumpy roads?

-removed the hard objects I had put in the glove compartment (flashlight etc) in case that was contributing

Will see how it does the next few days. If no more noise, will restock the glove compartment and go from there. If still rattling then will bring the car back to the dealer to figure it out.

Rattles in new cars are super annoying and could be from all sorts of sources. You'll need to work hard to try and identify the location. Loose screws that have not been fully tightened in the dash are sources I've found from previous vehicles. Our Q50 had a rattle that we found was due to the cowling/cover over the steering column. It hadn't been snapped together correctly, and the plastic tabs in the back had been broken. Was able to adjust it and get it mostly together. Made a warranty claim and am still waiting on a replacement 5 months now. But that largely eliminated the rattle.

If sound is coming from outside the vehicle which your post reads, walk around the vehicle and look for loose plastic bits and screws. Grab, pull and shake. Good luck. And if you identify something, post about it.

How can it take 5 months get a replacement part on a new Audi? Audi has to be the sh1ttiest car company in the world. How can your dealer not get the part quicker?
Beats me. I expect its a part they have to have shipped from Germany. Could probably find one quicker from a pick and pull off a wreck. Enough Q4's out there by now for someone to have totaled it.

Rattles in a car are inevitable, but this is very frustrating when they happen in a new car. Car rattles happening after 100k miles down the road are understandable but still frustrating - it can be like chasing a ghost.

It appears the logistical system in place for the Q4 or e-tron, for that matter, is non-existent. This is poor planning by AUDI. I assume they are using HOPE as a strategy for failing parts.

Maybe consider yourself lucky? My rear motor failed in my new Q4 and the part is maybe 7-10 weeks out, but they really don't know. Here is my thread: Q4 e-tron FAIL - Rear Drive Motor FAIL Q4 e-tron FAIL - Rear Drive Motor FAIL

The first time I test drove a Q4, it sounded like the front suspension was making a racket on rough roads. I complained to the salesman I was talking to and told him they needed to look at the car. I was speculating they didn't remove some sort of spacers from the front end when prepping the car after receiving it from the factory. That was last year.

Thing is... the Q4 I bought this spring was the dealers '22 demo unit with 800 miles on it. It might actually be the same car I tested and complained about. Though I haven't heard any rattling from the front end. So if it is the same car, they did something... and I wonder if it was indeed some sort of packing/spacer that didn't get removed.

I guess have the same problem with my Q4 50 (Dec 2021) in Finland; this only started after a year of use or so: first the dealer replaced the "suspension stabilizers" (or what ever it is in English) , but it didn't help. Then they said that the front rattling noise is coming from breaks and are waiting for a fix solution from the factory - it's been now 5 months and nothing, they just say still waiting factory to solve the issue, nothing they can do. I have also problem with really noisy, uncomfortable suspension which Audi claims is normal, but it is not as it has gradually got worse and worse. I'm planning to take the car to some other shop to be checked. It is very annoying... I have 2 other cheaper, older cars, but twice as comfortable to drive...

Same problem here. I have a 2021 e-Tron. After about a year the front driver side started making a rattling sound that sounds like something's loose in the suspension. You can only hear it when driving over a rough road (potholes, etc.) Took it to the dealer few months back and they said they couldn't find anything. Whatever...it's a lease so won't be my problem in 14 months when I turn it back in. I had them check it so that I have it documented that I told them about the issue and they didn't do anything about it. It's obvious something isn't right, even my wife can tell something sounds loose. Pity that a $80k+ vehicle has these types of issues. BTW, the car (which we do really like) only has 13k miles. First and last Audi though, shame.

Press down on your hood when it is closed. If there is give then that may be the problem. It was for mine. There are two plastic bumpers under the hood that con be adjusted to hold the hood tighter against it's latch when closed. If you slide the collar on the bumper out, you can then twist the bumper countercloskwise to have it extend a bit further from the hood. If you go too far the hood won't latch. Don't forget to slide the collar back in to lock it. Easy to do. Worked for mine.

Hi,

I’ve found this site useful as it lists the TSB for the Q4, and includes a few about suspension issues. Other vehicles are available on this site.

same issue in a 2023 Q4 in the U.K. with 2,000 miles. Sounds like something rattling on the right hand centre of vehicle. I hear it when the window is down (drivers sit on right in U.K.). Not sure it’s suspension or shocks but who knows. Judging by now woeful Audi customer service is, I’ll sit it out for a bit. It’s a lease car anyway and have to say, I’d never buy one.

My dealer told me 6 months that they don't have a solution from the factory, even though this file was found on the internet; they said that is for US only. But then finally they managed to fix it and said it is the same problem and fix than in us.. so I guess they can fix it in uk if they can fix in Finland.. .

My rattling noise has been resolved and it seems to be unrelated to the other issues on this thread. It turned out to be a pebble that had become lodged on top of the shock absorber, resting against the wishbone. Once I’d forced Audi to actually agree they could hear it (they’d road tested with windows closed FFS) they put the vehicle on the inspection platform and saw the pebble immediately. They had the car for 5 days 🙄
