Just started the process of ordering a new Q4 but haven't been given an indication of lead time yet. Has anyone ordered a Q4 recently and been given a delivery date? If so how long have you got to wait?
Agreed mate, but, when patiently (ish) waiting for 2 years for a car to be delivered - you then find out yours will be built 2 weeks before a reasonably considerable upgrade - that is just another Audi kick in the teeth to customers that they could not care less about. When I took my daughter to secure and collect her A1, I was quote open and told the dealer what I thought about the manufacturer's service. It isn't the dealer's fault, they are kept in the dark as much as the consumer it seemsTwo seconds sounds a lot, but when you count to two you realise it isn’t really. I have the BE40 and it is plenty powerful for British roads, and is pretty nippy when needed. The rest of the spec is really not much different to what it is now/ED1, other then some are standard rather then options. When I collect it I asked my dealer about the 45 against the 40 and he said it would be built after the back orders, and you would be lucky to see one before April next year, but who knows.
What will say to those waiting for their car to arrive, it is a lovely car to drive when you finery get it. It is well balanced, refined on the road and enjoyable to drive. The Audi app is good when it finely gets going, but get your dealer to set you up and the car when you are there. Intelligent Octopus I have not got it working right yet, it seems to charge straight away rather then on a timer. To be resolved but does not take the enjoyed of the car.
Photos???So, after a wait of only 681 days (a gestation period longer than the African elephant, fact fans!), a unicorn arrived on my drive this afternoon. I thank all those who went before me, and I wish good fortune to all who are still in the queue.
I now feel like a valid user of all the other threads![]()
Check with them mate, as that means it should be built and awaiting shipping to the UKI just came across this forum. I called the dealer and they have advised that based on the system, my order for the 40 Sport has been moved from Week 41 to Week 39.
It seems my order is the only one ahead of time - lol.
Thank you - they said it’s a confirmed build date and they are awaiting confirmation that it has been released from the factory. Apparently it should be any day now.Check with them mate, as that means it should be built and awaiting shipping to the UK
I found my Audi notifications lagged behind the actual events, and the dealer was the best to ask. Factory build is about a week, and then about 4-6 weeks shipping and PDI.Thank you - they said it’s a confirmed build date and they are awaiting confirmation that it has been released from the factory. Apparently it should be any day now.
It’s my first new car and all this is new to me. I have been following up regularly - now I wished I hadn’t followed up as much - haha! (it looks like I will miss out on the updated spec my a few weeks).
It will all depend on when it is built mate, prior to week 45 and it will be a "40", post week 45 and it will be a "45"Hi All - Just found this this forum and comforting to find out that I'm not the only one experiencing these lead-time issues! Reading a few of the threads is helping with my sanity! I ordered a Q4 ED1 40 back in August '21. Lost count on how many "Sorry, there has been a delay" emails since then. But hope was building as I had an ETA for early October since March this year. Which was repeated again this Monday, only to find another "Sorry, there has been a delay" email on Wednesday, now pushed back to mid-Dec! 😂 It's the hope that kills you!
A few threads on if people should expect an upgrade to 45. Does any know if a ETA of Dec suggest that I would get this or how I would find out?
Thanks
Nice mateOrdered 1st Nov 21 for a Vorsprung but finally cancelled today. Ordered a new BMW i4 m50 on saturday and already got a build date of end of this month. Dealer was nice enough but still tried to say hold on you’ve waited so long and reckons I would have had it by Xmas but just don’t believe the lies anymore. Also when you compare the tech of the two cars I feel the BMW is much further ahead now and had a more premium feel plus the extra speed will be entertaining enough. I actually feel better now it’s cancelled and I have moved on. Good luck to the rest of you holding out.
Well, I would not have problems paying that extra but that is not an option. Only option I have is to place completly new order. But then without electric seats, since that is no longer an option on Q4. I have waited for them for 2 years. But what price did you agree to? If the new electric motor version is priced at today’s rate, would you pay that extra?
Weird that electric seats aren’t an option. They are in NA. We’re supposedly not getting the new motor til 2024 but that doesn’t make sense unless they’ve stockpiled the older version since they are unlikely to make both. Who knows? In any case, shop around and perhaps state that after 2 years you want the new motor - what is you best deal? Nothing to lose.Well, I would not have problems paying that extra but that is not an option. Only option I have is to place completly new order. If I had build week 43 all the time I would not feel as angry as I am now. I fully understand that updates will always come. But now, this was poorly executed by Audi. My dealer informed me twice that with build week 51 I would get 2024 model and new powertrain. And now sudden bump in production week just 2 weeks from production.
Doesn't give me any comfort you being in the same boat mate, and I am obviously totally not surprisedAudi did it again!
Disappointing news are the only news Audi is capable of providing.
After 21 months of waiting, and having build week 51, that would round it up to 24 months, Audi provided some “good” news yesterday!
My production week was suddenly put forward to week 43!
Suddenly there are no shortage of chips, electris seats or anything else.
Only thing that matters is to make sure the car is produced before week 44, when the new powertrain will be the only option in their production.
How narrow minded do you need to be as a company to just think of your own profit and not look at it from customers perspective at all?! This is just to obvious.
It leaves me with big headache now.
Going to BMW today to check how much my pride is worth. How much money do I need to spend if I want to bail out from Audi.
Tesla M3 update is interesting since I disregarded that one due to horrible seats and poor material choices inside. Both being adressed in refreah model. But that I don’t dare to order in blind, without having sat in that car.

How did you get on at BMW? I’m just over a week in with an order number and been updated twice already. It feels like some sort of actual service which is pretty strange after Audi! Any movement on them altering their stance on the new model? It will all depend on when it is built mate, prior to week 45 and it will be a "40", post week 45 and it will be a "45"
But with a week to build and 6-8 weeks for shipping, PDI and dealer delivery, I would suspect if you get it in 2023 it will be a "40"
As somebody else said. don't expect to see "45" and "55" models out there until next year
I am holding on to the fact that I have only ever seen S-Line and Sport models on the road, so an ED1 will be a rare beast
