We’re leasing a Q6 in the U.S. and I’m trying to plan ahead for tire replacements. I’m not a big fan of run-flats, and since we’ll be driving in snow, ice, and mountain conditions, I want to make sure we have the right setup.
I was surprised to find that the OEM Bridgestone Alenza Run-Flat tires are the only Audi-specified OE option for this car. Does Audi Financial require that the car be returned on this exact tire, or will they accept any OEM-spec replacement (same size, load, and speed rating)?
For those who already have miles on their Q6, how much tread life are you seeing from the Alenzas? Have you noticed any uneven wear from the factory alignment? I’ve had multiple past new cars that came with poor alignment from delivery, and I don’t want to get caught replacing tires early because of that.
My current thought is to run the OE tires until they get close to the 4/32" lease-return minimum, then store them, swap to Michelin CrossClimate 2s (or maybe the new V3 if it’s available), and put the Alenzas back on before turn-in. Is that a common strategy among lessees?
Also, I’d love to hear what tires you all are running for year-round use. Did you stick with the run-flats, go with an all-weather like CrossClimates, or run a dedicated winter set such as Blizzaks or Nokians? Any noticeable impact on ride quality, range, or handling?
