Edit: Audi have now started to book in Q6 models for a software update

It seems that Audi have this afternoon paused a software update that was due to start being rolled out from today,

Those who had 06XM notification, this campaign has been paused If you booked in with the workshop for a software update, It maybe an idea check the status of your booking.

It also seems new cars being manufactured will be updated at factory side, with those already out in the wild having a new campaign due to be rolled out in the coming weeks

Don't let our issues effect your experience..I think the issues stem to certain control units on early adopters cars.

Some users in Germany have had the update, and have reported it fixed Traffic Sign Recognition, Front Assist issues and Suspension issues. So this may resume quickly and maybe cautionary or its due to some other issue.

It seems that the rollout has been working for those who have received it and posted about it, however it doesn't seem to fix all the issues.

Early reports from those who have had the update say it has resolved the issue of the Traffic Sign Recognition, Front Assist and some suspension issues, but has not addressed Plug & Charge.

I think it would be better if they rolled out more frequent incremental updates, fix what they can when they can rather than let things spoil the customer experience and eventually confidence of the car. But with each update taking up to half a day per car, I can see why dealerships don't want to do these frequently.

But it has OTA updates like Tesla and most other cars now, as you say why can't they release more regular updates like Tesla that incrementally improves the product, as you say it does leave you feeling disappointed and not fully confident in the car which is rubbish for £80-95k cars.

You say Tesla have been doing it for longer but VAG has been in existence for nearly 80 years, and these software issues go back to when they started to role out the MMI system in the original A6. I've heard the arguments about Car play in Tesla but genuinely you don't need it as the system is so good, in terms of build quality yes it's not like this Q6 but for over £20k less it's not that bad, and ours has run for 2 years and 25k miles without any issues or software bugs. Certainly in 5 days of ownership of the Q6 I've already had plenty of WTF moments, which I can genuinely say we've never had with our Tesla. I can see why the German car industry is in decline, and I know as my parent company in Germany that mainly works with the German OEMs are laying people off, along with 10s of thousands in VAG, BMW, Daimler, Bosch and ZF.....this Q6 software is just one example of why people are switching in large numbers to other brands from the far east and the US. It's a massive concern for the long term future of Europe car manufacturers.

As someone who has spent £95k on an SQ6 and had issue from two hours of ownership that the implementation of software should be better. But, as someone who's had a Tesla and a Rivian I can say they also suffer software and hardware issues.

No company or car is perfect, and it's not what goes wrong but how you deal and correct it. The car was two years late to market and they took all the API stuff back in house and are not very good at it clearly.

They are aware of issues, I have seen things that shows me that they are aware and working on resolving them but rather than let people know they say its a parts shortage and pacify customers rather than acknowledge the issues. But thats just VW protecting their brand, the most dangerous thing they can do is loose customer confidence, and thats on a line right now.

I've had 2 different Polestar 2's and they have not got very good software either, but they both also suffered mechanical issues, the first one being off the road for nearly 4 months and I was driving a diesel Volvo instead!! Wouldn't have another Polestar.

Have been waiting for two weeks to collect mine for the dealer... Told today that tomorrows collection is off due to software issue. The whole Q6 purchasing experience has been poor so far from being sold finance I didn't want to get a deposit contribution (which turns out you couldn't have on a Q6) to then being told ok back to cash and you'll still get the deposit contribution, (Which I didn't get) to you need to collect within 72 hours now its with the dealer you have complimentary drive away insurance (turns out not until a tracker was fitted at extra cost!!!) to now being told ... Don't know when you'll be able to collect now... Real **** show experience. :(

We feel your pain, and I totally agree that the whole launch has been a poor experience. But in fairness to the dealerships they had little knowledge before launch, and they were moved onto a new ordering system for the launch of the Q6. They had very little training before cars were getting delivered.

In regards to the delay of collection, trust me if they are holding on to it do the update you are much better off. We have had many issues, mostly down to software and it saves you having to book in as we have do to get the update.

Are you talking about the PCP? from my understanding the contribution is for PCP contracts initially I think it was £1,500 then went to £2,500

In regards to the tracker, I had the same issue. I was able to get the driveaway insurance but had to get the tracker fitted ASAP as they would not insure it for theft without one. Audi try and sell one for £500 plus a subscription. I got an approved one fitted for £180 and subscription

For all its worth, the car is great. But it really does need the software update otherwise you would experience even more disappointment. Everyone who has now gotten their Q6 or SQ6 have all suffered a delay so we understand the frustration..

On the positive note, we are a better user manual than the one supplied as we have had to just about work everything out as we went along.

Hello,
Got my SQ6 on Dec 23 with 03.01.00/C. What I recognized is that the car doesn‘t precondition the battery despite having charging station added in Audi‘s navigation. It also has some issues with recognition of traffic signs on highway.I.m just missing the walk away functionality from my Mustang Mach-e. The rest is amazing.
Best,
Werner

Hppy - are you saying the update is live again and do you know if it will sort out the new issues we are experiencing or is there further updates / control units down the line.

I am at the stage of formal complaint via my leasing company and seeing what options are open to me as I just don’t trust it or the service from Audi.

People are reporting their car has arrived just before Christmas and that it was updated, It is unclear where it was done however. All the people who have said it was getting updated over the holidays seem to have now reported a delay. I would assume nobody wants to do an update right now incase they run into issues and have limited support from Germany over the holiday season.

I would always suggest that you make a formal complaint in writing regardless of what you decide to do. This is then recording how long the issues have been going on for, and that you have allowed and willing to give access for the car to be fixed. But you expect that this should be done in a " reasonable time"

As much as I love to drive the car, I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone until the software and control units issues are under control.

If you read many of the forums you will see that people fit in to three groups when it comes to the 3.01 update:

1. Minor issues, mainly software related. Such as P&C and Digital Key
2. Major issues, which is control unit based that needs a replacement part
3. Update makes issues worst and cars spend weeks with a workshop whilst they try and source the issue

Hi,

I’ve had a Q6 for one month and have already driven 2,000 km. The car was updated from day one, and I’ve experienced no issues so far. While the consumption is much higher than advertised, it’s on par with the EQE SUV and comparable cars, and the charging speed is much faster.

If I can suggest something—make a deal with your dealer that if any significant issues arise within the first month, you can return the car for a full refund. If they agree, go for the most fully loaded Q6 possi ble.

I'd pretty much agree with this. I'm going to make a couple of videos about my car on YouTube in the new year and one of them will be my personal evaluation and recommendations for options. In short, I reckon that most of the functional options are well worth having - I got a lot of them and kind of wish I'd got an extra pack too, because I don't have the electrically adjusted steering wheen or the Plus version of the automatic cruise control (i.e. the lane centring function which was in the car I test drove and I liked a lot).

I also like my car a lot, and it's great to drive. My main outstanding issue is that I didn't get the fast USB ports that were in one of the option packs and I'm waiting for my Audi dealer to get back to me about that - I'm hoping that maybe it's just a configuration flag that they can change rather than different hardware.

Got the update to software version 03.01 today.

So far so good! Some observations:
  • The update was done within one day. Turned in the car in the morning, got a call it was ready in the afternoon
  • So far no issues noticed (did one drive of 80km)
  • All my personal setting were preserved (including app connectivity and key user etc). Only thing I had to reset was the setting of the balanced driving profile (what was previously called 'individual').
  • Since @Hppy29 reporting battery conditioning issues, I did a test fastcharge close to home. Added the charging station (400 kW) as waypoint. When I added the charging station as waypoint, battery temp was 13 degrees, at the charging station 24 degrees. Only charged at 149kW max, but I arrived there with 46% SoC. I don't think the car will ever charge above 200kW at 46% SoC, but I might be wrong. I don't fastcharge enough to know.
  • Will try to setup keyless entry tonight...

After nearly 7 weeks at the dealer, I finally have my car back and it's been upgraded to 3.01c.
Previously, I'd not been able to register for the 3GB monthly data plan, but this is now working fine.
I am still seeing the 47VW Campaign S-Checking Brake Servo in the myAudi App though. Is anyone else also seeing this? I was told by my dealer that this recall had been done on the car.
It's-5 here with lite snow this morning.
1. The remote climate control errored as per the screenshot.
Image

2. The charging flap didn't artempt to close at all when the charging cable was disconnected. I had to gently push it closed at which point the motor locked it.
3. The wing mirrors would'nt unfold. Once id driven 0.5 mile up the road i tried the interior button again, and they unfolded.
4. When setting up the digital key using the myAudi App and sat in the vehicle with bluetooth an wifi connected, i'm getting "network error". Ill try again later where there's a btter reception.

Not a great start!

I have a 700 mile round trip planned at the weekend, so I'll probmvide an update next week.

The network issue has been on and off for me. Took me a while to change my charging target the other day.

My service campaign notice took about a week before it vanished.

I would check the MMI database ( navigation settings, disclaimer - ) hasn’t been updated. Normally a day after the bug update. This caused minor bugs for me that required an MMi reboot to resolve. In fact everytime they do and OTA it requires a reboot.

I'd be interested in what happens if you joined your car to your home wi-fi and had your phone on the same network. When I park my car in the garage it joins my home network and seems to make the sync more reliable.

I, myself have only had a connection issue twice and it was after the car was idle for over two days. Jumping back in the car and waking it up resolved the issue.

There is no direct connection to change car settings. If it's not working then it doesn't matter.

My Q6 went in yesterday for it's update, I was told it would be in for the day, then by 10am they said they needed it over night and possibly longer. They did provide me an office for the morning and then a loan car in fairness. Waiting to see when it comes back, they did say to me that every ECU on my car will have new software! Can't wait.....I wonder what won't work now!

Got it back last night been in 2 days. We shall see how it goes, but the lane departure warning is still as bad as before with the steering wobbling all over the place. I haven't had the traffic sign recognition error yet, and the speed limits appear more accurate but without units. Efficiency hasn't improved, still not warming the battery up even on higher speed motorway drives. Digital key did activate but I still can't set-up the plug and charge. Some parts of the App now tell me I'm not the Key User, even though in the car I clearly am. The front drivers side knocking from suspension or undertrays etc I've got they couldn't find they said, drove out the dealer last night and within 100m it was there - are they completely stupid in the dealers? Early days, lets see if the alarm going off randomly or the boot not closing have gone away. It's now got a very annoying comfort entry feature (slides the seat back) but when you are in with your foot on the brake it doesn't reset back to the memory position - brilliant.

Fingers crossed that most of your issues have been resolved. I will watch with interest your charging and boot issues.
The traffic sign recognition was fixed via an OTA DB update. And I’ve been told the incorrect speeds is due to map data being incorrect not any software issue.

#64 ·
I recently took delivery of a SQ6 which has niggles such as traffic sign recognition and assistance systems not being available on some journeys, however I've not had any show stoppers. My car us running 3.00.00/C.

My gut is telling me to hold off on any update until Audi get a better handle on things. Do you agree, and should I expect Audi to contact me to proactively update my car, or is it fix on demand?

For the most part, issue have mainly been in cars with control unit issues or other mechanical. The software has highlighted them more so.

Holding off and hoping for the best is not the approach I would take due to the way we can take redress in the Uk.

As you have no doubt read, there’s no real trend to who and what cars have issues.
