Now that more people have taken delivery of the Q6 & SQ6, more people are sharing their thoughts and not just issues related to their car.

It would make it much easier for people to post or find help if people only post about faults or issues on your car, you do not need to post that they don't have any issues!

I will create a new thread for Q6 & SQ6 General Chat ( linked below )

Now that we have started to see delivery of the Q6 & SQ6, I thought it would be a good idea to have a place to share issues, fixes and known issues.

When you post an issue, include the model/ trim for example : Q6 E1, Q6 SLine

What error codes and warnings you get
When did it start

I received my Q6 around three weeks ago and I've had nothing but issues so far. I've documented the errors/issues so far and posted them in one of the other forums, so I thought I would share here. These might have been referenced in other posts - I see there are quite a few so I haven't had a chance to trawl through them all.

Charging Issues
  • Error “Vehicle charging connection: fault” appeared 5 minutes after taking delivery. Appeared to charge fine on AC/DC and the error disappeared a day or so later.
  • Significant charging failures started a couple of days later.
  • On public/fast charging stations, sessions often terminate within minutes and display errors such as:
    • “Charging not possible. A technical error occurred"
    • “An error has occurred in the charging network"
  • I have tested multiple charging providers, sites, and speeds, with the same result.
  • Dealership has acknowledged there is a TPI on their system, but there is no known fix: "vehicle detects an internal overcurrent when the charging station is activated and the charging process is stopped".
  • Home charging-specific issue:
    • With no saved charging locations, the vehicle should default to “Immediate Mode.” Instead, charging terminates prematurely, and the car automatically creates a saved location with a randomly assigned charging timer.
    • Even after deleting the timer, manually selecting “Immediate” charging, or deleting the auto-saved location altogether, the issue repeats.
    • The only current workaround is to disable the location feature in the vehicle entirely, which negatively impacts other app-based functions.
Sensor and Warning Errors
  • Within two days of delivery, a tyre pressure loss warning appeared despite all tyres being correctly inflated. The only resolution was to manually reset pressures through the vehicle menu.
  • The passenger door and boot appear to have faults with the locking mechanism:
    • Passenger door requires excessive force (relative to the other doors) to close securely.
    • Auto-close option on the boot doesn't work reliably. On occasion it will close but fail to do the last bit, where it should pull the door shut/to a locked position.
Driver Assist System
  • Driver assist system fails to initialise on startup occasionally.
  • The fault could only be cleared after restarting the vehicle multiple times.
Android Auto & USB-C Functionality
  • The USB-C charging sockets do not provide reliable charging while Android Auto is active, significantly reducing usability of this feature.
  • When Android Auto is active, plugging the device in to charge via USB C rather than using wireless charging interferes with Android Auto.
  • If Android Auto/Apple CarPlay is active, I cannot charge a second device without it interfering with the media controls.
  • Unsure if this is an Audi-specific issue or more of an Android Auto/Apple CarPlay problem.

At this point, the best thing you can do is call them out on social media, tag them in posts and also tag any industry magazine or blog.

Basically, public embarrassment. In here, it's an echo chamber, but Audi has done a LOT of damage control to keep these issues quiet from the many 'glowing' mainstream reviews.

Force their hand by making it very, very public.

Audi have done nothing In regards to damage control, they don't reposed to comments on social media post other than to contact your local workshop. The workshop says we are waiting for Germany and Germany put their head in the sand and hope it goes away. Local dealerships will often offer unofficial advice, but you need to take it with a pinch of salt as they are not the ones who accept the car back.

Many issues being reported today are those that were reported when the car first came out 12 months ago, the only difference is there's more forums talking about the Q6 and offering work arounds so post are more spread out. But which ever site you goto the issues are the same.

Audi could have helped, and created a controlled environment where users could discuss issues and they let people know what they are working on. But they play on the customers lack of knowledge and goodwill and hope that you will live with it. It is all about targets and not customer experience im afraid to say.

Cars imported to the US clearly undergo a more stringent quality control due to the lemon laws, in the UK and EU its pretty much suck it up and wait to see if we can fix it.

The best advice anyone can give a customer with an issue, regardless of how big or small is report it via email so you have a record, and give them the chance to fix it, if you accept it will be fixed in the next update then at least get it in writing.

Know your legal rights and execute them before it's too late if you are not happy with the car or the service.

I don't want to be all doom and gloom, but this next update is not going to cure every issue in fact it will create some new ones.

Great advice. I can’t believe the US is ahead of the UK and EU on consumer protections and legal obligations of auto manufacturers, given the general lack of care that is shown to consumers here in the US in almost every other industry. I will say, even with lemon law protections here, Volkswagen Group has been extremely slow to settle our current claim, but at least we have the expectation that it will be resolved.

I was told by a master tech from Audi that they have realised that their quality control generally wasn’t as good as it should have been and they identified some issues that have been fixed. This sits in line with their last update.

As different markets have different requirements their quality control is different (not sure if it’s better). If you look at the service style of AudiUSA it’s way better than any other. And whilst customers of Q6 in the US across all the forums I use their numbers of issues and complaints are significantly less than those in UK and the rest of Europe.
