If this is causing you stress (and it would me) I would bite the bullet and have someone install skinz. I can't stand car rattles.

Find a good installer. They will insulate the panel clips as well as they can be the cause of rattles sometimes.

Yes Audi should be sorting this for you, but getting any kind of decent customer service these days is nigh on impossible.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not familiar with the product, so I'll look into it. Part of my fear is that these freakin' cars have door control modules that can freak out when disconnected... causing errors that only the dealer can clear/reset.

If that happens during this skinz installation, I'm sure the dealer will charge me to clear any potential system errors caused by disconnecting the door control modules when pulling the interior door panels.

Darned these computers-on-wheels lol!

Plenty of cars have had the panels off for PPF without issue, but personally I'd rather risk that than suffer years worth of rattles. Some people can live with it, or tune it out, but unfortunately I'm not one of them. I'm in the camp who gets really angry when I'm near a noisy eater. There's actually a medical term for it lol It sends me into a mini rage. It's why I can never go to the movies, as I'd be listening out for people eating popcorn haha

Same. Aggravating sounds like this make me mental. As in, I don't even want to drive the car I hate the buzzing and rattling so bad.

It's going back to the dealer tomorrow.

I'll post the results when I get it back.

This is a good watch, skip to 2min if you don't want to watch it all

My rattling issues aren't audio related, but rather related to certain types of road surfaces.

There's a buzzing that comes from the instrument cluster area as well as buzzing that comes from 3 of the interior door panels.

On the door panels, I can lightly squeeze the arm rests, or just slightly press the arm rests towards the door and the rattles/buzzing stops. It's as if the arm rest screws/bolts (wherever they are) need to be tightened up, but I can see how perhaps the factory clips may have developed some play in them.

If the dealer doesn't get anywhere with it, I may buy all knew fasteners, pull the panels myself, and install the new fasteners... taping them to the door panel as well as using some of this skinz to tape over each hole in the door... applying a small puncture so that when the clips snaps in it'll have some padding around it to keep it tight/buffered.

I just need to know how to ensure the car is powered down in such a way that disconnecting the door control modules doesn't throw lane-change / exit warning system malfunctions (part of Audi pre-sense systems).

I'm taking mine in to a dealership this Friday (2 hours from my house, vs the one that's ten minutes away) to have them look at my door rattles. I'll report back how it goes.
I get that. I've already reached out to a dealer that's 2 hrs away from me as well, vs my local dealer which is about 20minutes away. Mainly just to have another resource in the event i need something more serious.

My local dealer first of all only has one e-tron certified tech, and they tend to not do anything if that guy is unavailable, regardless of wether it's an EV related issue or not. Lastly, they also don't seem to have much interest in dealing with e-tron vehicles, especially the one certified e-tron tech they have.

The dealer that's a couple of hours away has 3 e-tron certified techs and seem to have quicker turn-around times.

If you get no joy, maybe you should just walk in one day and say I'm handing the car back and rejecting the sale. Say you want them to put in writting that they have acknowledged your request even if they don't agree with it, so you can give it to your lawyer as evidence they know you want out.......even if it's a lie, it might make them up their game.

I'd probably do it just for a laugh if they have given you poor service.

You had a third party disassemble portions of the vehicle that are now rattling and want Audi to fix the problem on their dime???
Nope.

All the rattles presented two weeks before the car was wrapped on August 8. Unfortunately for me I didn't report it before-hand, so it's the convenient excuse for the dealer to blame it on the wrap job. People have their cars wrapped all the time, whether in a color or in clear, full-body PPF. I do/have it done to all my cars all the time. Doesn't cause rattling/buzzing issues.

Additionally, what does the dash, instrumentation and center-console rattles have to do with the door cards being removed to wrap the car?

Nothing.

Furthermore, have the people in this thread all had their door cards removed, thus having the exact same rattling/buzzing issues as I'm having?

Doubt it.

Our e-tron GT was XPEL wrapped (everything but the glass roof) before delivery in late June. 2K miles later and nary a sound when driving at any speed. Wonderful car.

Exactly. Tell that to Ace.

Wrapping the car has nothing to do with the rattles and buzzes I'm experiencing, yet the Dealer wants to blame it on having the car wrapped.

Yeah, the door cards were off to wrap under the mirrors, but I've had that done on many cars that didn't result in door rattles

They rattled prior to the wrap, as did/does the instrument cluster and center console which definitely have nothing to do with the wrap.

Figured I should at least share a photo of my car after the wrap job. I was looking for a color as close to Verde Montreal as possible. KPMF Gloss Envious Green is pretty darned close, even in how it shifts color depending on the surroundings.

Just waiting now for my satin black Vossen HF-4T wheels to deliver.

Before the wrap.. jambs are now green as well.

Next to my Giulia QV which is also wrapped (and didn't cause any rattles lol) in PWF Ruby Red. PWF and KPMF are the same company. I like them because they look the closest to actual paint imo.

Update:

I just reached out to Audi USA via Twitter DM. I explained the entire situation, wrap and all. Included before and after pictures of the wrap... full disclosure

I also shared this thread with them.

They immediately replied and asked me for my full name, VIN, address, phone number and dealer I've been working with so they can open a case on my behalf and remedy this for me.

So, Ace... it seems even Audi USA disagrees that wrapping your car should cause interior rattles and buzzes.

I'm feeling pretty good about this new interaction.

I'll report back as things happen, or don't happen.

Great result. Yeah, it's a shoddy answer regarding the wrap. ****, does anyone seriously think Audis are so badly built that simply removing a door panel can cause rattles within the instrument cluster lol

It's just an excuse to avoid having to do any work. Lazy society......remember that next time you spend $100k+
