Just curious if anyone else is experiencing a similar issue with Audi Canada—not having parts for recalls. My dealer says there’s currently no ETA for my Q4.

In the meantime, they gave me a Q3, but I specifically bought the Q4 to avoid paying for gas…

Is it the 12V "voltage converter" that's the problem?

As I recall, when mine needed a new heat pump compressor a couple years ago that had to come from Europe, but it only took a week or so.

Getting them set up with the refrigerant so they could work on the R-744 heat pump system at all took much longer, but that's a whole different story.

according to the dealer, the car has some bad battery cells and it needs to be replaced. Actually the range dropped a bit since I got the car so hopefully it will get better? But this is taking way too long… 8 weeks so far…😤

my local dealership waited until they had the parts before doing the recalls when its was in for "service".

Not aware of the recalls stopping use of Q4.........the Audi charger recall did state not to use until updated. the 12v battery was a health check.
I would get specifics on the recall and parts required, pull your Q4 and return when theyre fully ready given the dealership is not to far.

With the 12V voltage converter recall, there is a risk of bad things happening if warning messages are ignored. It doesn’t apply to our 2022 and 2023 model years AFAIK. But they may be holding vehicles with that problem for liability reasons.

12V voltage converters are being replaced under recall for affected vehicles. Root cause is inadequate conformal coating on the circuit board, which makes it susceptible to damage from condensing moisture inside the aluminum casing of the module. But it’s a discrete production range of the converters that is faulty, and a VIN range of vehicles into which they were installed.

Some 2024 and 2025 Q4s are affected.

Not to say vehicles outside this range can’t have problems, but they aren’t under recall at this time.

I should note that this recall is for the US, and I don’t know what Canada or ROW are doing. Presumably the defect knows nothing about geography…

thanks for the info..........I would think Audi/VW group source the 12v converter unit or the PCBA from an outside contractor and can track the assembly date code then narrow down which range of cars the units were fitted to. Agree the defective units were probably built into the generic world wide car at some stage before they are country specific on the assembly line.
We did have the recall here in Canada.........Ill dig up the letter I received from Audi for my '23 MY.

Interesting statement from the recall March '25:

Repair: • REPAIR NOT YET AVAILABLE
• Until the recall remedy becomes available, dealers should diagnose customer
vehicle concerns and perform repairs, if needed, following existing repair
procedures. This work cannot be billed/claimed against the recall.
• Dealers and owners will be notified in writing once the remedy is available.
• Check daily campaign open inventory report or OMD for affected vehicles in
inventory.

USA 2024 2025 Q4 E-TRON SPORTBACK 1,721

I think they rebuild the high voltage battery packs at the dealer, but there are very few techs who are certified to do the work and special tools are required.

This is a huge problem for all EVs. There are a few third party shops that will rebuild the packs, but they have waitlists of many months or years!

I looked at this issue a while ago, thinking about extended warranty or moving on from Q4. Fortunately, HV battery warranty runs for 8yr/100k miles for 2022 model year. I think they made It more stingy in subsequent model years.

But what good is a warranty if you can’t get the repair?

Therein lies the major problem.

The issue for the OP is the Q4 is relatively new and under Audi warranty which would continue after the HV battery and/or its cells issue are rectified so Audi has to be absolutely sure the repairs are 110%.

hope the resolution is to the full satisfaction of the owner.

Mine spent almost 7 months in a row in the shop. Audi is not giving good support for this car. I'm now waiting for a part so that my charging door will be able to be reopened when it closes since it currently auto locks and can't be opened then without force. On the bright side it is at home as I wait for this part to come in stock, but it has been about 6 weeks and counting that we've waited for this part. Not looking forward to when the car is out of warranty soon. It is comfortable and great to drive when working, but the electronics are a disaster.
