My Audi contact in Naples, Florida just informed me that they expect to get their first allocation of Q4s in November. This allocation will only include rear wheel drive cars.

Yeah i am lamentably hearing similar: RWD first :(
My dealer said first few released in December. And it's a very small number of cars.
Yeah all my dealer told me was they are showing up at port now.
Welp I put down my deposit to lock in my place in line and MSRP, now just a matter of waiting until they can actually submit my order
I go back and forth. I have a Volvo XC40 Recharge EV the wife has same car in ICE. We are debating on trading hers for either the C40 or the Q4 50. If the Audi had Homelink and 360 camera I might get there easier. I know I can add homelink, but 360 cam is nice. The volvo as you enter the garage it knows it and turns the 360 camera on automatically. The audi has a HUD, so give and take. The 400HP instant torque of the Volvo is pure amazing.

the 360 camera is pretty annoying to have disappear, but I've never had one so I don't know what I'll be missing. Homelink at least should be easy to add later!

I did a bit of an exploration on the Volvo EVs and feel like they're alllllmost something for me to consider other than the infotainment.
The Volvo entertainment based on Android is great other than it has some bugs. It is nice saying “ok Google” and then telling the car what you want to do. If you. Like Android and Google’s voice integration into maps, Spotify, etc. then the infotainment is a breeze.

The car is amazing to drive. Not as efficient as the Q4, but styling and seats are great. I have had a bunch of stupid issues, but Volvo customer service has been amazing.

yeah the lack of carplay is a dealbreaker for me honesty. Plus wanting to use less Google, not more, and then we are looking at a bad combo 😂

yeah I have a serious love hate relationship with Google, their lack of privacy and making it so difficult to turn most data sharing off is a concern. That said the usability of Google is great. Just tell it to play a playlist or artist on Spotify and off it goes. CarPlay should be coming soon.

Yeah, I almost got a XC40 this past spring. Car drives great, but range was pretty crappy in the winter @ 80mph.
Looking at specs at least, there is also way, way more interior room in the Q4 even though it is essentially the same length.

CarPlay should be coming soon.
So, my issue here is 1)They've been saying that for almost a year. 2)It is a Google product, which means they can just abandon it at a moment's notice.

Yeah I have that concern, Google's track record on adequately support some of their endeavors is weak. That said they just released version with XM finally, so it seems promising for now they will follow through.

If you look at VW the ID.4 (and I assume the Q4) they recommends to only charge to 80% except for long trips, Volvo is 90%. So for most driving that puts them fairly close. If you drive the XC40 normal I easily beat the EPA numbers, but I assume I would do the same on the Q4. I may put deposit on the Q4 just to hold my place in line for now. Sadly all the local dealers want $1K and one $2K deposit.

On a daily basis, the range doesn't matter. I have an 8 mile each way commute. It only matters to me for longer trips where I would charge to 100 anyway.

I keep asking my local dealer if I need to put a deposit to hold my place in line and he keeps saying no
🤷‍♂️. He says he'll take my money when he can actually put the order in.
One dealer told me no deposit until they get allocations, which to me is BS. Create a sign up sheet and take a deposit to hold place in line. Once they get allocations it will be a free for all. Have to say Volvo went all online for XC40 and C40 and VW is online and I prefer those systems, I leave a deposits, get reservation and am in line. Since it is hard to haggle with cars due to chip shortage then this system works well.

After 4 years as a Tesla customer, I've learned my lesson: if a feature isn't available now, it's the same as never being there because you can't count on it happening.

Yeah I had to call around a bit to find someone who'd take a deposit for a slot in line and would explicitly confirm they won't be adding a markup.
3 dealers, 1 wanted $2K, next wanted $1K last wanted no deposit until allocations. Then the $2K dealer offered to take $1K. All 3 committed to no markup over MSRP.

Oh you've got it easy out there 😂 my nearest dealer is doing a $10k markup!
There are at least 4 dealers in the area ofr metro ATL so unless they all do it none of them will and the Jim Ellis dealers have a strick no markup policy.
I will wait until Oregon approves this Q4 for the tax credit of $2500 just like the ID4, and also see if Costco will add to discount. I am in no rush to give a dealer extra money for a car.
