Many have asked questions about what’s fixed and what enhancements have been made in the latest update. Without official release notes from Audi, it has been left to those who have had the software update to update forums with their findings.

For those who have not yet had the update, the software will be updated to Software 03.01.00 /C. The update should take around three hours if your car doesn’t suffer any issues that may complicate the update. And normally, the workshop will require the car for the full day.

As you may have seen on forums, some of the early deliveries have had some cars that seem to have had some quality issues with control units, which, if this is a mechanical issue, will not be resolved by the update, although some control units can accept updates and resolve the issues some users have had. For those who issues are regarding control units, diagnostics are done and they are sent to Germany to determine what action should be taken. The update is currently delivered at a workshop and is not a simple click download like you would a computer. It requires an EV technician to do the update and may require some interaction as well as making changes to their network to deliver the update Technical details about the update are held on a system called ElsaPro and the workshop follow the instructions, fault find and report through this.

The software update contains a series of measures intended to improve quality, as well as several functional enhancements. The software update improves several functions and reduces the occurrence of unjustified warning messages. For example, the vehicle’s charging functions and their availability have been optimised. This applies to features such as the use of speech recognition via the Audi assistant, the navigation system, and for mobile phone connections. Occupant detection, sound output, and the content displayed on the screens have also been optimised. In addition to this, the digital key function has been activated on vehicles with this optional equipment.

Digital Key

Once you have had the software update, this will allow the process and activation of Digital Key. You will require a passcode, which is sent by MyAudi; in my instance, this was by email. You can find the settings for Digital Key in the “All Functions” section of the MyAudi app. When I first opened this section, it tried to start the process but was told there was an issue. A little while later, I had the email with a passcode, and the options to set up digital key were visible.

You can set up digital key in a mobile wallet using the link on the email . You can use your mobile or the Silver Audi RF Card that you received when you took ownership of the car. It works on Android or Apple phones running the latest software.

Disclaimer: The feedback about digital key has been mixed across other forums, and you may want to test the update before activation of digital key to see what’s been fixed for you and if any issues are still present. When you do enable digital key it maybe wise to also carry the regular key as an additional measure in the short term.

Traffic Sign Recognition Issues

This, for me, was resolved by an OTA MMI database update prior to the 03.01 update. You can check when your MMI database was last updated in the navigation system. Click the settings icon in the top left corner and go down to the disclaimer section. This should open some settings, look down the list, and you should see that database updates are enabled, and it should have had an update anytime after the 20/11/24 Eur_15 If you have this enabled, the update now will not do anything.

Do not be deterred from having the update done based on issues that you have read, your car either needs to be updated or have parts replaced.

I'm going to let my dealership practice on their demo cars first, although my service department a on the ball.

Considering out of the first group of cars delivered you seem to have had the most issues I really hope they can fix it for you tomorrow. I just have a funny feeling they are going to hold back until after the 28th.

And I hope the update doesn't clash with @LIM golf :)

Possibly! But launching a service campaign without making sure that the remedial steps aren't sufficiently documented so that a dealer can complete the work smacks of more incompetence! I wouldn't be at all surprised though!

As an early adopter of the Q6 I expected issues/bugs. What i didn't expect is a total mismanagement of the product at every step of the way. From the complete lack of information through the build phase, the delays due to software not being ready for release. Which seems laughable now! To the non-existant handover, to the equally non-existent dealer knowledge, and now it seems, a total lack of customer service. Of course things will always go wrong, but I measure a brand on how well it deals with issues.

Day 4 in the workshop
This mornings update from the service manager.
The car "should be" looked at today, but they don't know if one of the recalls may require parts!
They will give me an update this afternoon.

Is this standard Audi customer service, or have I just had the misfortune of living locally to one of the least adept?

Guys,

I was also excited about the digital key, but when I finally got it, it turned out to be such a disappointment.

1. Unlocking the car:

- The car doesn’t unlock itself when you approach. You either have to unlock it via the phone or place the phone next to the handle.

- UWB is present, enabled, and my key says everything is OK, but it’s still not working.

- To make matters worse, touching the handle like with a traditional FOB doesn’t work either. The same issue applies when leaving the car—touching the handle doesn’t lock it. You have to take out your phone and launch the app.

2. Starting the car:

To start the car, I need to take my phone out of my pocket and place it in the Audi phone box. After several seconds, it beeps, and then I can select “Drive.” With fob just enter and select drive.

I’ve tried using it, but honestly, it’s much easier to just keep the FOB in my pocket.

It’s winter now, so I always have a jacket and extra pockets, which makes carrying the FOB more convenient. Maybe in summer, with fewer layers and fewer pockets, the digital key might seem more useful—but for now, it’s a letdown.

The digital key uses the CCC standard, but has been problematic for many on the Q6 range causing anything linked to that model to have issues.

The most common has been the alarm going off for no reason or people being locked out of the car.

The phone being placed into the phone box is an extra security feature to stop unwanted starts for example by kids in a car playing with a phone.

So, I’ve had the update before taking delivery, and on first impressions no major issues. However I’m now starting to notice some settings not being retained, despite having key user set up correctly.

Issues I’ve noticed so far:

- Internal light settings not retained. If I select one of the preset combinations, next time I get in the car it’ll have defaulted back to the one it started with.

- Seat positioning - sometimes on entry to the car, the seat doesn’t go back to its stored ‘Set 1’ position so I have to hold down the button to get back to where I should be after the seat has moved back exiting the vehicle.

- Generally the app is working ok, but the fundamental item of being able to sync the current range and battery status, doesn’t work 99% of the time. It did once I think, but now it suggests is 99% full regardless what the car says and/or any ‘successful update’ when synced with the car.

None of these issues are show stoppers at all, but they also do not disappear with an MMI reset which can be frustrating.

Will try resetting again later, and give it a little time, then mention to the dealer if they don’t iron out over the next few weeks.

Overall though, I am loving the drive of the car. It’s a great cabin to be in and the drive itself is responsive and smooth.

I have had this with the comfort access. Mine seems to happen when I get in the car and comfort access has not worked and then suddenly it starts going backwards once I am sat down but does not then reset in the position.

My big issue with this fault is recently I was in a massive rush jumped in the car and started reversing and it happened and I was then further from the brake peddle than I liked when I needed to brake hard having just spotted a cyclist in my blind spot.
