Sorry for the newb question. Is there a way to watch media on the MMI via SD card? If so what format do movies or shows need to be, when car is parked etc.

You can watch standard MP4 video files whilst the car is parked, but the video display is switched off automatically once the car is detected to be moving a couple of miles an hour. I use something like Handbrake (on the Mac) to make 720x480 MP4 files and have them attached via USB to an SSD hard disc.

These lower sized files start up very quickly and play perfectly. When moving the audio track continues to play however so you can follow along in the background until the next traffic holdup or light brings the video display back.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Do you also know if there is a way to stream from Netflix etc?

You can use OBD Eleven tool to use 100 credit app to unlock Video In Motion (VIM).

Can you then mirror the apps on your device? YouTube, netflix etc?
unfortunately, you cannot. DVD, USB or SD card inputs.

Here's a demonstration of VIM (but from a different commercial entity). OBD Eleven 100 credit app to unlock VIM and you can manually long code to disable the nanny state monitors (inability to input addresses on NAV, etc when in motion)
