The clean lines of the design, the dashboard/cockpit layout, saving money on fuel, the leather. Beautiful car. I like the internet radio on there.

There is a lot of stuff I dislike about this car, and I am really hoping that Audi get it right on the next generation as it could be so much better. It's a good job it's so pretty.

  • No leather on top of door parts and across, it's some sort of plastic stuff, with the bit of suede underneath it - looks cheap and no excuse on $85k car.
  • Center Console is badly designed and in the US where we're using a lot of drinks containers like Yeti tumblers, hardly anything fits in the middle at all. I can get a bottle of coke in there, but hardly any reusable vessel. I'm thinking of getting something 3D printed to slot in, and bring the cup holders higher up with a larger diameter.
  • Windshield wipers juddery even with new blades. Sometimes they hit the edge of the seal on the windshield. Audi dealer fob off. They compared to other e-trons and the movement is the same, so design fault.
  • Tailgate can sometimes close inadvertently when one of us is leaning into the trunk. Have to get out very quickly.
  • Hood lock sensor very over zealous, When closing the hood, you need to really press down on the right side to hear the click or you get a warning.
  • Reserving and front sensors slow to react, and then overzealous - don't silence even when in park (for example, next to window at drive through)
  • Heavy handed serve back in on lane assist

- So many bugs with the software including:

  • Get into the car and sometimes while it is adjusting my seat position, it just stops and pushes the seat all the way back. Only remedy, turn off the car, open and close the door and try again. Usually it's fine second time.
  • Shortcuts on the top screen just reset. I don't listen to the radio and change the radio icon to Apple CarPlay - the car just forgets that continually so stopped bothering now.
  • Audi navigation is generally useless for the first 5 or 10 minutes I use the car, as it's connecting to the internet for place names, and the connection seems to be dog slow despite being on AT&T LTE. Nothing is cached which it should be for local area. (my phone is also on AT&T LTE sat next to it and Google maps works instantly)
  • The car stereo lacks a bit of higher end bass to low mid. Feels a bit soul-less when playing back lossless FLAC files. Very clear and detailed but just lacks some range.
  • The audi app is really badly designed and seemingly badly coded due to the speed of it
  • Nearly had a nervous breakdown talking to Audi about the Key user set up. 7 hours on the phone on and off until I found someone who knew a trick to get it to work
  • When the car connects to wireless carplay, it changes the app on my phone. Not sure if that is an Apple issue, but it kills the music that was last playing in the car.

Had a hood lock sensor warning last wknd. Merging on busy highway going over bump got huge red warning in HUD. No idea at the time what it was but hood was fine. Got to destination 10 min. later and looked warning up in manual. Opened and closed hood again and no further issue.

Disappointed with the lack of software fixes for the simplest of problems on MY '21 cars. An example is the speed limit sign overage alert. Suppose to be able to set the alert up to 15 MPH over the posted limit. The car has a 5 MPH maximum, making this feature worthless. Reported this problem to The ETRON Customer Experience Line 4 months ago. The response at the time was Germany knew of the problem and a fix was forth coming. Here we are 4 months later and no update. The Navigation voice response performance is awful. Some days it seems to work good but then on others days it can't find anything. Once it's in an error that's it till the car is powered off and restarted. An example is when it continuously says: "Enter a Search Term". When the app enters into this dialogue that's it for the trip. Reported this one to the ETRON Experience Line and asked for a list of verbal commands for the Navigation app but never received a reply.
The latest software issue is backing out of the garage and the car slams on the brakes, sets the parking brake and powers off the drive train. No error or diagnostic messages are displayed. A driver should be able to open a diagnostic window and see an explanation of what caused the computer to shut down the car. Several drivers on this forum have reported the same problem with no definite fix. While I love the car and feel the hardware support is good the software bug remediation is lacking. It's my speculation they will not upgrade prior year cars with new car software features like Tesla does. I will be interested to see if the Korean cars model their software upgrades like Tesla.

After one week with the car.

+ Comfortable driving position and ride. Nice to drive 'go-karty' and rapid for its size. MMI is pretty good.
- Complete lack of features I would suggest should be standard (road speed limit, assisted cruise control / collision avoidance). Wiper shudder feels cheap

Mine is a company car so it was base model only. I have come from numerous BMW X5's and a fully loaded Velar so to say this car is sparce is an understatement.

Briant71, I'm with you. My other car is a manual 2004 BMW Z4. By using the paddle shifters you can make the etron behave like 1) a manual (0 regen), 2) an automatic (low regen), or 3) something a little different (max-regen: sort of a one-peddle drive). One really interesting thing I find I do now in the zero-regen mode is COAST--a lot. This car will roll a really long way. This is the most efficient way to go! In one sense, I have to agree with John. The rolling back in the etron (unless you firmly brake to engage hold assist) is a little more disconcerting than with a manual transmission. At least in the manual you can balance the clutch and gas peddle to start to slowly go uphill, but then, I'm using both feet among 3 pedals---not a simplification of the process! In fact, that two-foot, three-peddle dance in a manual car is probably the scariest part about driving one!

You can easily accomplish a 'hold' by just feathering the (gas?) accelerator pedal. Just like the old days except sans clutch. 'Hold' doesn't hold unless you're in 'D or S' and reach 0 mph.

I wish the Cockpit Display flipped what is displayed at the top and at the bottom of the display. Right now all the boring status info is at the top--rarely changes, rarely needs a quick look--while all the alerts, alarms, etc show up at the bottom of the display, and they often appear only temporarily. This requires me to quickly glance way down at the bottom of the screen, sometimes in not the best of driving situations, forcing me to take more of my gaze off the view ahead.

If I recall correctly, the dealer has to assist with this step.

I got my 2022 six weeks ago today and the app is a NIGHTMARE. While my dealer set up my key successfully on delivery day, when I get in my car & start it almost every time now it says Accessing Vehicle User Rights Please Wait....

On a good day, it says: Welcome Adam and continue button on the MMI and I am on my way. Most days, even back to back drives, I have to wait for the car to Access vehicle rights and this can take up to 90 seconds (it feels like 10 mins sitting there).

When this access rights thing happens, the app is totally dead. Even on a "good" day, usually the app says cannot retrieve info, pre-climate fails, cannot unlock or locks and even when charging (you would think the car would be awake)....I cannot check charge %. I am disgusted with the app and car connectivity!!!!

So sorry your new Audi experience is like mine :( Love the ride, look and feel of my e-tron (amazing actually), but the EV experience is totally ruined by their non-functioning app and in car software crap!!

I myself also found the missing of the interior lighting, I read your message about lacking the basic luminate light for our Premium trim package. However I still sent in my car back to the dealership for them to check if there is a software they can turn on to light up the interior. In the spec sheet it should come as standard "white". I don't have much hope on this but I still decide to give it a try. I will let you posted here. Dealership provides me a Q5 Loaner (only 3000 mile) during this time, I just again realize how superior our Etron is.....
On other thing that surprise me is (after getting car), Massachusetts has the 2nd higher electricity in the nation. I installed at 240V level 2 charger at home, We only have flat rate $0.3/kwh. So it costs me $20 to charge 60kwh, While my friend lives in Minneapolis (who has the Volve EV) only pays their off peak for $0.03/kwh.... that's a big difference.....

The NO interior lighting in my new almost $72k e-tron is insane to me. At night when I drive, the inside cabin is so dark, drab and boring. Please let me know if your dealer is able to activate at least white. The Q5 is nice, but the e-tron is several steps up in quality, materials, weight, performance....

Cannot believe the you can pay 30 cents and your friend in Minneapolis can pay 3 cents. Thank god we have 100+ solar panels, if not... here in CA we would pay 35 cents/kwh :-o

Today (4/1) Dealer got it to work. My sales rep delete the previous setup and use a different email of mine, Surprising it pass all the registration and works the very first time. Also there is a Audi APP 4.8.1 just came out, FYI. I am happy at lease for now

Love the car overall so far but this is the on EV I've owned. The drive is superb and I actually like the heaviness, just wonder how it will be on the tire treads. I wish the cup holder was bigger but my other cars consoles were sticky because of spillage so I guess this will keep me from drinking in the car a lot. lol I know it's a trade off but I like the weight because I am an SUV driver for years but it makes the range suck.

Things I like about the eTron GT:
  • Mechanically, the car is an absolute delight. Handling and suspension are superb, superior to my RS7.
  • Love the flat-bottom steering wheel
  • Love the (leather) seats
  • Like the manual climate controls
  • Love the headlights/brights

But the non-driving "user experience" is disastrous. My RS7 was a 9.9, the eTron SUV is an 8. The GT is a 5. Just so many stupid decisions about the user interaction. I agree with most of the dislikes on this thread, and offer even more:

  • Turn signal noise is so loud it's disrupts phone calls. There's a well-deserved thread on this.
  • Interior low-speed "engine noises" are too loud and ruin the experience in the car <40mph. The eTron SUV interior noise is much, much quieter.
  • Must go through multiple screen presses to open the garage door! Three Homelink buttons please!
  • Paddle shifting engine braking is anemic. eTron SUV got it right.
  • Awkward manually-opening charging port doors (eTron SUV has electric ones).
  • Parking sensors way too sensitive and "cry wolf"
  • The recall notice can't be dismissed. Reminds you every five minutes.
  • The B&O stereo is lame. I so miss the one in the RS7.
  • The window controls are too far forward. I often open the rear windows instead of the front ones.
  • Tailgate can sometimes close inadvertently and will kill me one day. I want an auto-OPENING trunk, not an auto-CLOSING one. The eTron SUV does this, too. So dangerous!
  • Dome light was way too bright. (I used a black Sharpie pen to dim it).
  • Only single digit mi/kWh
  • The auto Park assist is totally unusable.
  • Kick down gear shift a bit abrupt
  • Max charging is advertised as 250kW. I've never seen anything >104kW
  • The sunroof needs an interior sunshade
  • Directions from Apple Car Play don't show up in the HUD. BMWs do this. Even the crappy Ford Expedition I rented recently had better Apple Maps integration.
  • The MMI favorites are awkward and keep disappearing.
  • USB-C charging ports are unreachable and awkward.
  • Half the time I get in the car and it switches on automatically. Half the time it doesn't. Lame.
  • Why is there a top-level "Settings" Icon, and another "Settings" sub-section in Vehicles?
  • CarPlay connectivity is erratic (as it is in the eTron SUV)
  • The MMI app sucks. And their internet offerings are so lame and expensive.
  • All the settings in the MMI disappear frequently.
  • I can't turn the ITM on and off while moving. The eTron SUV allows this. Totally stupid.
  • The touchpad volume control is lame. The eTron SUV has a knob—so much better.

Overall, the GT user experience is nowhere near where it should be for a $120k car. In some ways the car is incredible and in other ways it's beyond awful, making it the most frustrating Audi I've ever owned (and I've owned 11). I'll probably get rid of it soon. I just hope that they don't let the same product managers ruin the new Q8 eTron.

If I can illustrate what I feel, owning Audi e-tron is similar to have a very pretty and sophisticated wife (that everyone can get jealous when seeing you walking with her) but soon after you will realize that she not that smart and refuse to learn anything (end up you just fed up and rather talk to yourself or to someone else)

I must say the quality and design of exterior and interior of the car surpass my expectation. Also ride muchj more comfortable compared Tesla.
But once I try to navigate the MMI screen, I began realize how illogical is the menu, layout and features arranged. And also same as a sophisticated wife that demands regular expensive facial treatment, this Audi also ask EUR21/month just to give me option to see map in 3D and if I want to listen to streaming (only online radio and Amazon Music?!), I still need to pay for data usage from Cubic Telecom. I started to missed my Tesla, with EUR9.99, there is no string attached, I can get all features includes a google earth map with unlimited music streaming from spotify, tunein, youtube, netflix, and recently apple music. I started to miss my Tesla

I still can bear with that regular subscription that cost me more than twice I paid for my Tesla, but the moment I tried to access myAudi app, oh God... the feeling is just like talking to a 5 year old boy that will refuse to listen or simply don't have enough knowledge to understand what the adult is talking to him. Remote unlock/lock response took 10-15 seconds and sometimes it fails. The status (e.g. vehicle not park properly) sometimes not accurate which sometimes shocked me that I need to go check the car to ensure parking brake on, engine off, doors locked physically. More advanced tasks, such as setting up the car to charge to a certain level remotely is not working at all. This is really heaven and earth comparing with Tesla app in my iPhone. At this stage started to regret choosing the looks over the brain.

My first several cars were stick shift. Anyone else actually love the fact it can roll back? Takes me back to those days when you pulsed the clutch to keep your car in place, just because you didn't care to use the brake. Crazy that an electric car elicits nostalgic memories.
I LOVE that it has a controlled roll back when parallel parking uphill. The last thing you want to have to do is punch the accelerator only to end up right into the curb.
Not sure the real reasoning behind it, but it works for me. I still have two stick shift cars so I can also appreciate the down shift paddle on the E-Tron. Not the same, but better than many others.

What etron do you have? The etron quattro does not have controlled rollback.
