Does anyone have any access to service manuals or exploded parts views? Seems odd (though not unfathomable) to have this flap without any purpose. Counting down to when I get my NJ plates and need to figure out how to mount them.
I'm going to cover it but cut out a hole under the license plate in the mounting frame (from Amazon). I watched a "how it's manufactured" on youtube about our car and they put a plate frame on at the factory.

From video:

The way I put the plate on without screwing in (my old Q7):

I was told by my dealer that you don’t need a front license plate on an electric car in New Jersey
You sent me down a click-hole to see that there is a proposed bill (S160) to ammend the NJ laws and require only one plate. The bill was introduced in Jan of this year and referred to the NJ Department of Transportation. I cant find any status of it since, and doubt we'll see it in our life time... ¯\(ツ)

My final update on this thread. I decided to chance that the cover was not needed except for access to the panel for maintenance. Let the dealership deal with that. I ordered a plate frame and used 3M VHB tape to attach to the grille area.

I installed the no-drill license plate mount on my 2025+ Audi Q6 E-Tron. Audi Q6 E-Tron (2025 +) No-Drill License Plate Mount
The installation was super easy, but it is just a tiny piece of metal, and to me, it is way overpriced.

I had already been pulled over in NJ for not having a front plate, but I explained to the officer that my mount was on the way. Fortunately, I didn’t get a ticket.
While the mount does its job, it detracts from the car’s aesthetics :(

I tested all the sensors, and nothing was affected or blocked.

Here is a picture for reference.

As a plate holder, it looks really well done although I completely agree, these cars do not look good at all with a license plate.

Has anybody figured out what that cut out is right above where your plate is showing?

I thought the license plate bracket would be made of CFRP, not metal, as the name suggests, Carbonio>Italian>English>Carbon, thus would be expensive. That's one overpriced metal license plate bracket.

A quick check on that company, Carbonio>Italian>English>Carbon, used to design and make CFRP intake manifolds for VAG and other ICE cars.
