I have simply strapped my Audi EVSE unit to the bottom shelf of a two-level knee-high table. I curl up and lay the charging cable onto the top shelf. Works fine and gives me some extra length.

 

My 2014 BMW charger looks professional. And does a nice job charging my GT.

 

Why don’t you get a chargePoint or Something similar it’s going to be faster give report’s and looks nice

 

Charger comes with the GT (RS) in the USA, so no need for another Level 2 charger, just need to mount it nicely. I was going to get a ChargePoint initially before finding out it comes with the car.

 

Repurposed our old Porsche charger cabinet.

All of the chargers utilize the same mounting system, however each generation of charger is a different depth. My Porsche cabinet and charger are referenced as "Version 1." The current units are "Version 3."

OLD install. Mounted to a small box I made so the whole thing could conceal the 6-50 outlet and keep the cord from fouling the door tracks. I made a simple French cleat to facilitate hanging it on the wall.

Inside the cabinet

Replaced the 6-15 outlet with a 14-50, swapped in the Audi charger and discovered the depth issue.

Padded out the mounting bracket inside the cabinet with some thin PVC boards and a sheet of rubber . Also had to source some longer M5 screws. I think it looks pretty OK now.

The wall to charger cord is much shorter on the Version 3, so I had to source a shorty extension cord to reach the outlet.

Just wanted to share. The Porsche cabinet is a nice bit of kit. Glass front. Plenty of capactiy to wrap the cord around it. Keeps the cord from getting nasty laying around on the floor.

 

Were you able to position the wall-to-charger cord so that the plug into the wall is nice and flat against the outlet? It seems like people who have heating/fried-connector problems often have the plug under physical stress when it is plugged into the outlet.

 

The old Porsche wall-to-charger cord was much longer and only 10AWG, so it fit in there quite easily.
VAG is now pinching pennies by shortening them by about 50% on these new 6AWG cords
I couldn't even come close to making it fit, so I purchased that RV extension and ran it a few charging cycles times before I buttoned it all back up.There was barely any noticeable heat on the extension. Less than the Audi cord, in fact. I'm very risk averse when it comes to projects like this

Also forgot to mention that I needed a 4X4 box extender because I couldn't get the new 4 conductor outlet (14-50) safely screwed down.

Current state of affairs. Plenty of relief in the path.

 

Decidedly low-tech option but it works & took all of 20 minutes to hang. Picked up 4 PVC conduit clamps, mounted the Audi EVSE onto a wood board to relieve some of the strain. Plan on cleaning it all up by painting the board black and getting a hook for the cable.
