Hard to tell. In the morning, I get into the car, switch it on, back out of the garage so I do not exactly sit there and let it get its work done, whatever it is doing. I know that by the time I am fully out of the garage, it is off.

 

Hmmm interesting. I'm definitely out of my community by the time it turns off, takes a few blocks for sure.

I would say a few minutes.

 

I suspect it might have something to do with battery temperature, since the first morning run with battery dead cold was slightly longer than next two runs.

 

Goes off after 30 seconds after car is powered on. I will time it next time or even record a video for reference.

Does yours turn off before you start moving if you stay parked? I think mine doesn't go out until I've been driving a little bit.

 

I timed my car today on 3 different drives:

• first morning run, ~20 seconds
• second morning run, ~15 seconds
• third afternoon run, ~15 second.

The symbol is out by the time I pull out of the garage and get wheels straight to drive forward. I can make a video is needed. I do not see anything that would last more than 30 seconds.

 

Weirdly mine seems to have sped up, much faster today. Maybe the car was just tired 😂

 

Today's observations:
1) ~25 seconds (morning, dead cold)
2) ~15 seconds (morning, warm battery)
3) ~25 seconds (afternoon, dead cold)

Battery temperature is the only dependency I can see.

 

How about the car "sleep state"? IF the car battery is cold, then most likely the car has not been started for some time. It can take up to two hours for the car to fully shut down. So, a cold battery is a sign that the car is likely in a deep sleep state. If the battery is in a "warm" state, then likely it was not that long ago that the car had been on, and so it is likely in a less deep sleep state.

 

I have no idea how to assess "sleep state". In the morning and afternoon, car would have been stopped for more than 4 hours (parked at home or at work). The second one was for a kid drop off, so the car was off for about 10 minutes or so.

I have been checking the times again now that the temperatures are higher. The times are definitely battery temperature related.
Yesterday's observations:
1) ~15 seconds (morning, parked overnight)
2) <5 seconds (morning, parked to drop kids off)
3) ~15 seconds (afternoon, been parked for ~7 hours)
