How to Check Battery Specs & Charging Capabilities?

Hey, I recently got a 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron 50 Quattro, and I’m trying to understand more about its battery and charging capabilities. I’ve read that some Q4 e-tron models have different battery capacities and charging speeds, but since I bought mine used, I don’t know exactly what it came with from the factory.

For example, I’ve seen discussions about DC fast charging rates and whether certain models have the larger 82 kWh battery pack. Is there a way to confirm my specific build details? Would a dealership be able to pull up which battery and charging packages were originally included with my VIN? Or is there a database that has this info?

I am pretty sure that all the Q4 50 models have the larger 82KWh battery (usable about 77kWh).
However, it you want to be sure, you can check the details in the myAudi app, which hopefully the dealer has setup for you.
If you go into the first tab in the app (with the car icon) and scroll down to the "My vehicle in Detail" and then "Equipment and technical Data", this has all the details on the car, including VIN and options.
Under "Technical Data/Consumption", it also has the battery details (in the Electric Drive section), e.g.

I am in the UK, but should be the same in the US.

My understanding was only the Quattro models were exported to North America in the first build years which were all fitted with the 82kW battery.
Other models produced were 2 wheel drive and had the smaller battery.......not sure they mixed batteries between models (ie big battery in 2WD or VV).

Per Paul above the myAudi app does provide the details specific to your car VIN.

DC charging rate improved with a mid-2024 model year refresh, but as above the 2022-mid 2024 “50” models all have the 82kWh ( 77kWh useable ) battery pack. There is a reserve, so the total capacity isn’t useable for any HV battery. 40 models are RWD only, with the same 82kW battery, 50 are AWD. In the EU and UK there was a RWD 30 model with a smaller HV battery, but that wasn’t available in the US. Neither were 40s, at least for 2022. VW ID.4 was initially RWD only in the US, but AWD was added as an option later.

50 changed to 55 with the refresh, but battery capacity stayed the same. Same with 40 changing to 45. Both got more power and somewhat faster DC charging, but arguably the biggest change was battery pre-conditioning for DC charging. That improves charging speed for “pit-stop” DC charging. 50 and 40 don’t have that. But DC charging speed isn’t class leading for any Q4, unfortunately.

BTW range increased a bit with the mid-2024 refresh, but that is because of improved efficiency of the rear motor unit, not increased battery capacity.

So, to summarize, all Q4’s sold in the US have the same battery capacity. But the newer ones DC charge a bit faster. AC charging is always the same, up to 11.5 kW.

But we haven’t talked about what happens with charging in the cold, and that’s a much longer discussion.

For a US spec 2022 Q4, it's not tricky at all. They only exported one configuration to the US: the AWD "50" with the 82/77 kWh battery. And it was a very short model year for the US, partly because a big shipment ended up on the bottom of the pond. I snagged one of the first ones that made it here intact.

Things get a bit more interesting in subsequent model years, especially 2024+. Charging speed improved after the mid-cycle refresh during the 2024 model year. The clue there is the "55" and "45" designations for the updated models vs "50" and "40".

Yeah, I was suspicious of post #6 but I still fed the troll/bot. I didn't mean to promote it.

But OP seemed legit. She wasn't obviously hawking anything and didn't post a link. But I am far too trusting of women... 🤪

Besides, I got booted off an ID.4 forum just because I posted a link I thought was funny, and that darn moderator bot wouldn't even follow its own appeal rules.

It is important to note that original specifications aren't what you'll see after a few years of use, especially for functional battery capacity.
