Anyone know why it’s showing MMI wifi connection as not linked? I’m connected to the car’s wifi as you can see in the picture and it works fine. Is this another myAudi app bug? Private wifi address is off also.

From googling the issue someone mentioned last October that when they did the initial app setup on their iPhone they were asked to allow notifications, location access to contacts etc but were not asked access to the local network which they were when the they tried the set up on an iPad. This appears to be the issue. Report it to Audi. I have done and am awaiting their response.

Hi anybody got an update or confirmation on this issue? Brand new q6 etron owner with the same issue and questions about mmi WiFi. What it does? Should it be on or off etc? For example CarPlay works fine for me via my iPhone but I can’t use Alexa or the Audi store or anything else that requires an internet connection. Some people say you need to pay for a separate Audi internet package for these things to work but that just seems bizarre on a brand new80k car when my phone connects and obviously anything via car play uses my phones internet without issue. Very confused….. btw went back to my dealership and they have no clue on any of it and just said I should try phone Audi centrally as they can’t help. Pathetic! 💩

Nope still the same for me. I did find a workaround but I’m sure it should not have to be down like this to get the internet connectivity working…. So turn on personal hotspot on your iPhone, then go into the car connection manager in the Mmi and go onto WiFi and then select your phones WiFi hotspot and connect to it. The car will now use your phone for internet and so Alexa works also connection to the Audi store and other apps that require internet connection also works. Only issue I have to open my phone hotspot settings every time and go back into WiFi connection manage in the car to get it to connect again to my phone WiFi. It won’t do it automatically for some reason. So a clunky work around but it does works. Still no idea what these two toggle settings in the Audi app do or whether they should be on or off and I even called Audi centrally on their expert (lol) Mmi customer support number and the guy has no idea what I was talking about and promised to get back to me after he posted with someone else…. That was 4 weeks ago and no response…..

I have the same issue in that the app shows not linked. I also have an issue with my new Audi data plan in that it doesn’t work - something I need to raise with my dealer. So I am forced to enable my iPhone personal hotspot every time I get in the car. As others said this is very clunky, so I figured out a solution that makes it seamless.

Find the ‘Shortcuts’ app on iPhone. Under the Shortcuts tab create two new short cuts.

1. Turn on Personal Hotspot
2. Turn off Personal Hotspot

As in green below.

For each one configure as shown:

Do the same for ‘’off’. Then switch to the Automations tab and create two new Automations as below:

Configure these as shown:

Making necessary alterations for on/off.

Now, when your car establishes the Car Play connection it will automatically start the personal hotspot and your car will connect.

Hope that helps hide the issue!
