Q6 e-tron Tires

We’re leasing a Q6 in the U.S. and I’m trying to plan ahead for tire replacements. I’m not a big fan of run-flats, and since we’ll be driving in snow, ice, and mountain conditions, I want to make sure we have the right setup.

I was surprised to find that the OEM Bridgestone Alenza Run-Flat tires are the only Audi-specified OE option for this car. Does Audi Financial require that the car be returned on this exact tire, or will they accept any OEM-spec replacement (same size, load, and speed rating)?

For those who already have miles on their Q6, how much tread life are you seeing from the Alenzas? Have you noticed any uneven wear from the factory alignment? I’ve had multiple past new cars that came with poor alignment from delivery, and I don’t want to get caught replacing tires early because of that.

My current thought is to run the OE tires until they get close to the 4/32" lease-return minimum, then store them, swap to Michelin CrossClimate 2s (or maybe the new V3 if it’s available), and put the Alenzas back on before turn-in. Is that a common strategy among lessees?

Also, I’d love to hear what tires you all are running for year-round use. Did you stick with the run-flats, go with an all-weather like CrossClimates, or run a dedicated winter set such as Blizzaks or Nokians? Any noticeable impact on ride quality, range, or handling?

You can return with any tires that are to spec.

My wife's Q4 had the stock Alenzas, and they are pretty awful. Switched to CrossClimates and they are much better: ride is nicer, better grip, a little noisier(?).

Only put dedicated winter tires on them if it makes sense for your climate. Running winters when it's hot outside is just going to cause them to get shredded, especially with the weight and torque of an EV.

Do CrossClimates count as being to spec even though they aren’t “RE0 RFT” spec?

I’m used to Porsche and BMW, where Porsche requires N-spec tires and BMW requires Star-spec tires. I was a bit surprised that Audi might be okay with a lease return not coming back on RE0 RFT tires.

We're a couple weeks into bringing the Q6 home, and I've been genuinely surprised how comfortable/quiet the OE Bridgestone Alenza RF 19-inch tires are. I was thinking we'd rush to replacing them with CrossClimate2 tires, but now I'm debating tolerating the Alenza RFTs for one winter and waiting for the new CrossClimate3 🤔
