I just got this dreaded error on my 2019 e-tron. Just over 24k miles. Bought it from Carvana 3 months ago with 22k miles. I had it plugged into my level 2 garage charger for about an hour but had to move it so unplugged it like I always do but got this when I tried to start it. I have an obeleven device and ran a full scan on it to try and see the issue. It has 28 faults but had 20 when I bought it (I assume they were never cleared and Audi said it passed a full pre inspection when I bought it). I guess I'll be calling the dealer on Monday...
I found a service bulletin that said to reset the code and turn it off and on 5 times, waiting between each time. I didn't clear the code but did turn it off and on a bunch of times and it started again. It worked fine the next day but a day later the code came up and the car refused to start after going somewhere and trying to leave. I was able to restart it again after power on/off a bunch and then again this morning in order to bring it to the dealership. So I'll see what's next with this fun adventure.

Here is a brief update... The dealer has ordered the rear motor, a module related to the rear motor, and the Sx6 module. The car was taken into the dealer on August 15th, and one part has already arrived, with the final piece expected by September 1st.

If everything proceeds according to plan, the vehicle will be out of commission for a total of three weeks. Compared to some of the prolonged delays mentioned in this thread, a three-week timeframe appears reasonable. My hope is that these initial part replacements are indeed the root cause of the issue, and that the vehicle will be restored to optimal condition swiftly.

Plan on not seeing your etron for a month while a motor is replaced.

... and hope for a good tech at the dealership. I heard horror stories about replacement done wrong, with new parts botched, and having to re-order them again. I have one trusted tech and service advisor and will go out of my way NOT to go to anybody else. They know the car history.

Yeah, I'm planning for the worst but hoping for the best.

After calling they said they were backlogged and had no loaners for 2 or 3 weeks but they could give me a ride home if they needed to keep it.

I got there and it wouldn't start. 10 minutes later they offered me a loaner and I was out the door. Very confusing experience. I also got a brand new Q7 prestige to use until it's ready so at this point I'm not really worried or complaining. If I get it back and have further issues I'll cross that bridge but, like I said, I'm hoping for the best.

I suspect that Audi is pushing dealers to assign more new units to be loaners, maybe because they aren't selling anyway. I'm still waiting for mine's motor replacement. Dealer is getting ready to put a Q8e Prestige into loaner service. They gave me a Q7 but I gave it back and took a Q5 instead. Q7 was just too big and pokey.

I wouldn't expect Audi to advertise that they "fixed the faulty coolant seals", rather they'd just quietly make changes. We'll see I guess. Looks like I'll be trading for a Q8e because the incompetent dealer can't manage to get any work done on my '21. Been a month, parts are here, and they haven't even started on it.

Well - this thread is depressing. My 2024 Q8 etron gave me this error this afternoon and I had it towed to the dealer. They’re going to pull it into service in the morning. I’ve had it for two months and have 2K miles on it. 😭

The good news is that they were able to get me a loaner today and that’ll get all the miles of the roadtrip I had planned for the long weekend. 🤷‍♀️

You just broke my heart. Check out your local lemon law. 2 months is usually within the time frame for major failures. Start with the assumption that they won't be able to fix it in less than a couple months.

I feel like I waited forever for this car. I wanted a 2022, but wasn’t happy with the battery size. I ordered it when I thought they would have the bigger battery in the 2023s. They made it with the smaller battery and I passed on it. I bought a ICE Q8 off the lot and waited a year. There’s something wonderful about building the car you want and waiting for it.

But now I don’t want to have to wait for another custom order. But I also want the car that I want. And I took a bigger loss of the ICE because I thought I would have the etron forever. 😭😭😭

Well there are plenty of Q8e units collecting dust on dealer lots, you might need to settle for one. A few used units around too.

No blue with brown leather anywhere I can find. Not a common combo, but I just can’t handle another tuxedo color and the brown leather is my greatest love.

I absolutely wouldn’t go used. The entire reason I waited so long was to get the bigger battery from the 2024.

They pulled it into service and confirmed that the module needs to be replaced. They put the order in today and said they expect it to arrive from Germany in 3-4 weeks. Bummer. I will give it 3 weeks and if it’s not here by then, I’ll start asking about the lemon laws. 😭😭

I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, or if it’s what tripped the module, but it was the first time I charged it above 80%. We were packed up, heading on a road trip, and I had the audacity to charge it to 82%. As soon as I get this resolved, my first test will be to charge to 100% and make sure no faults come up 🤦‍♀️

I'd be starting the lemon law and making buyback demands now. Might give them some motivation to get busy, and you can always change your mind. Let them know you're not kidding around.
Not sure what "module" means but it doesn't sound like the motor is bad.

My state says 3 difference service visits without resolution, or 30 total days of being in service. So I don’t have any argument yet. I honestly think they’re trying to get it as fast as they can. 🤷‍♀️

Most state lemon laws also have an additional clause regarding "major" failures that happen within a specific period after purchase. Like 6 months or so. So in that initial period it just has to be out of service. The 3 visits language is usually referring to used cars, cars that are older, etc.
