Most state lemon laws also have an additional clause regarding "major" failures that happen within a specific period after purchase. Like 6 months or so. So in that initial period it just has to be out of service. The 3 visits language is usually referring to used cars, cars that are older, etc.
It doesn’t look like that’s the case for my state. There is no law for used vehicles, this only applies to new vehicles. And on closer inspection, it’s 30 business days… which puts me at 6 weeks.

I’m going to be stupidly optimistic and hope for the 3-4 weeks. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I got my car back today -- so I figured I'd give an update. They were able to identify that the sx6 module needed to be replaced the day after I brought it in and they ordered the part same day. Unfortunately, it took 2 weeks to ship from Germany, another week to arrive, then almost a week to get the battery in, replace it, and then put the battery back in. So it took exactly 4 weeks -- or 20 business days.

My dealer was easy to work with and provided me with a Q5 loaner the whole time. But I am so happy to have MY car back. I sure do love her.

I have had the “Electrical System Malfunction. Safely Stop Vehicle” warning come up maybe ten times over the past year. The first time it happened, I was way up in the mountains with no cell signal, so I had no choice but to keep driving. Car was totally fine, and has been ever since every time this has happened. Wondering if it’s a faulty sensor. Since I have 72k miles on the car, it’s not under warranty. I’m likely to trade it in soon and not likely to do anything about it.

My 2019 e tron has been with Audi service for 2 weeks due to similar issue. I heard a loud clunk and then my car went into limp mode along with several warning messages. I just reached 37,000 mi. They are saying the issue was caused by the front motor and are waiting on the part to replace it. Hopefully that resolves the issue.

Hi everyone. We had the same issue( etron 2019), this happened on 9th of November. We are from Russia, maybe someone find this as «thats they need”, but this a very big problem to our family. We do not have official Audi support. We ordered from eBay pre owned parts sx6 module and the battery charger 5QE915684J. But it still going wrong, car is not working( we do not know what to do and who can help. Sellers on eBay said that parts is working, everything is ok, they have more then 7k positive feedbacks, so I think they are good sellers. People, who had the same mistakes please find your invoice what was changed on your cars, please answer, and maybe this will help. Sorry for my English.

Add me to the list. I purchased my Edition One 7 months ago, and drove it from Salt Lake City to Northwest AR, DC fast charging the whole way home. At the last charging stop, we experienced a ton of charging issues, where the chargers would just stop and nothing would tell me why or what happened. After a re-plug, re-initiate on a 200kW charger, the charger stopped and the car screamed the "Electrical System Malfunction" warning. We got it to charge on a different (lower power) charger and made it home, but not before the Auxiliary Climate wouldn't start, and I feared we'd do the last 2 of ~20hrs with no AC. It ended up all working fine, and charged on AC when we got home.

I've periodically gotten the same warning, usually when "starting" the car but all systems were normal, and typically a key on/off cycle would clear the message. The past 2-3 weeks I've gotten the warning almost every time I've driven and a few times it wasn't able to be cleared with a key cycle. I assumed I needed a new 12V, so I call Wed to schedule an appointment with Audi so they could also diagnose a popping noise coming from the front suspension. It's likely the ball joint, which there's a warranty extension for. To my surprise they said it would be best to bring the car in that day so they could diagnose. I dropped at 4:30 and they charged it overnight and diagnosed the next day. Bad Sx6 Module, part ordered, should be here early next week and should be covered under the battery warranty, since my 5yr/60k expired via time at the end of Sept this year. The car only has 46k miles on it. Dealer said they've had 3-4 others with the same issue in the last few weeks/months.

I wonder what's actually failing in the module and also wonder if this will turn into a recall, as all modules will likely be in the same boat. Or maybe there have been incremental updates to fix weaknesses in the module itself. Would love to know more.

Initial diagnostics implies rear motor failure and/or battery failure. Either one of these is a 3 months' wait for a rebuild. So yay ... I am stuck in loaner for these 3 months.
On a flip note, I got into chatting with the service manager and these failures are not that uncommon apparently. They were originally blamed on first generation design, but apparently 20, 21 and, 22 models already show up with the same problems, with anywhere between 25k and 35k miles on them. I am smack around 27k miles right now, is that is even any trigger at all.
I’ve got the same issue today and Ive just done 27,000 also. Mine is a q5 hybrid registered sept 2020

I've had 3 electrical failures on my can 2023 Eton GT since Jan 2023. Last one was Dec 1, 2023. Finally Audi took my car in. Apparently waiting for a "part" to fix it (although they haven't heard from Audi Germany yet about the part). It's been 2 months. I have a lease. I have filed an official complaint with Audi Canada as I haven't heard any possible fix. Waiting to hear back.

I use a car broker for my leases and he said I have good cause for termination of the lease hopefully some pay back or possibly a new vehicle in the meantime.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this?

Does anyone know the warranty on the SX6 module? My 20198 e-tron has similar to above and is now in dealer. Said they are checking with Audi.
Already replaced several cells in battery which Audi covered but that was a couple of years back.

My 2023 e-tron S, Tri motor, with 6800 miles, on my way from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, 300 mi each way, would not take charge well at electrify America 350kW hyper charger, had to move down the road to an EVGO, where wattage SLOWLY trickled in to the car. Gave up at about 82% charge, had been at station for 70 min. Started driving towards vegas (uphill stretch) with 80% charge, and "drivetrain issue, pull over safely" car slowing down to 55. Pulled over. Turned car off. Let it sit for 5 min. (My BMW X5 45e sometimes needed a restart to fix bugs). Turned it back on, no alerts. 10 miles up the hill, same alert, car lost power, said "drivetrain issue" and I had to be towed into Las Vegas Audi.

Now the concerning part was they called me the next day and said they found nothing wrong. I asked them to do a more involved test drive on the highway, so I wouldn't be stuck in the middle of the desert when I drove home. They did, and said it was fine. I asked the service manager what could have caused the issue, he had no answer. I said "what if I get stuck again?" He said he was "confident" it would not happen again.

well, no issues since, but was there something they fixed that they don't want me to know about? I found it very odd, he could assure me the problem was gone, but didn't know what the problem was.

Again 2023 Audi Efron S, with only 6800 miles. :(

My dealer told me it's covered under the battery warranty, which is great because I'm also out of my bumper to bumper by 4 months. I haven't gotten any completed paperwork so that could change but that's what I was told when I dropped it off and they suspected Sx6.

Has anyone recently gotten theirs back from Sx6 replacement? I'm curious if the part was revised. Looks like the last common part number available at online audi part retailers is 4KE-915-253-F. I just picked mine up (after 5 weeks) and the replacement part number is 4KE-915-253-L. Looks like maybe that last letter could be a revision identifier. I really wonder what's been revised, as I'm not excited about replacing the same part again in another 45k miles, which I'll likely hit a few months outside of the 8yr battery warranty.

My turn to have the dreaded “Electrical System Malfunction” in my ‘21 e-tron with 23k miles. This was early December, mild weather in Phoenix. I was initially able to get the car off the road in a few tries (it would only go short distances for a brief time) but then could only get it into neutral, and this was all in the dark. Had it towed to the dealership the next day. Called Audi Roadside Assistance for all that. I was afraid it was a bad battery module because my son-in-law and a friend of his who both had ‘22 e-trons had their cars in the shop for 2-3 months for that issue. I was lucky (relatively speaking) because my problem was that I needed a new front drive motor because coolant had infiltrated it. The dealership just happened to get the part in the next day, and I got my car back in 6 days. But now I’m dreading what I feel is the inevitable battery module debacle. Would love to take the car on an upcoming road trip to San Diego but am scared to death to break down in the middle of nowhere. Plus the resale value of these cars is now awful. I did love the car, but not a happy customer.

Do you have a part number on your receipt? Wondering if they've revised the motor or is they're just continuing to install the same motor.

My wife has a 2021 Etron. Think she is about 25-30k miles. All the same just happened to her. SO VERY HELPFUL that we know we are not alone. Thank you very much for the original post and all the follow-up info!!!

I bought mine off lease. I wonder how long until I run into one of these issues. Thank goodness its a second car. But still, nobody buys a car to keep at the dealership. ;-/ But I did have the foresight to get an extended warranty. I figured this model ('21 sportback) would not have any (very little) value on trade, so my plan is to keep it for at least several years.

24 Q8 etron - on Friday I drove about 5 miles to a grocery store. When I started my car I noticed electrical system malfunction! Please contact Service (in yellow). I called them and made an appointment for later that day. Drove back home message stayed up until I turned car off. Drove the car to lunch and then dealer about 20 miles. No message and car drove fine. Car is at dealer waiting to hear back.
