hello all. 6 weeks in and love my Q4. However…just experiencing my first motorway charge at Ionity @ Gretna, M74! Wow, 12 places to go, UK’s charging infrastructure is not good. 😩
Similar experience at Beaconsfield services on 11th December. Many more electric cars on the road than there were a year ago but hardly any more public chargers. Heathrow especially is in serious need of a major charging facilty. We need every petrol filling station to be replaced by something like the Gridserve Electric Forecourt.

Woah we're heading back that way tomorrow?! Why so busy?! Let us know how it goes!

Hopefully all the chargers are working, IONITY locations have a bad habit of having one or two chargers down which is bad enough when there's six but I think Gretna only has four?
Hi. Just to follow up your question. Re. IONITY @ Gretna Services, 4 chargers were working. Think it was holiday traffic & train services down (due to strikes), hence the max queues. It took me about 2hr20m to queue and 40mins to charge to 80%. There was a minimum of 15 cars behind me. Woefully inadequate infrastructure! Think I’ll avoid IONITY on return trip and use a ChargePlace Scotland point off the M74. PS, I counted 22 teslas playing “slottie puzzle” parking at their 4 chargers too!

Don't know if this is any use but the Rennaisance hotel (Marriott) at Heathrow just fitted a massive row of chargers. Makes staying there overnight even more useful now as also right by T2 and T3.

Thanks for that. We've been gradually working our way around all the hotels on Bath Road so haven't stayed at the Rennaisance for a while. Will give it another try next time.

Just give them a quick call first, on 22nd December all the Tesla ones were fitted and running, they were literally attaching the others to their poles so shouldnt be long.

Can confirm same issue today, this is a good reminder of why we always leave at 2am and not 9am 😞

So strange. Do people actually wait in line for hours to charge their car? I would avoid long trips in EVs altogether.

I would hate to be in line waiting for a solterra to charge to 80%. There should be a time limit per vehicle to avoid long queues that deter EV ownership.

How long does the Subaru Solterra take to charge? With the built-in-fast charge capability of 100kw/hour on the Solterra, you can get up to 80% of your battery capacity in about an hour from a Level 3 DC fast charger.

Spoke to the dealer today, you guys probably know all this but just incase it helps fill in any blanks.

My car is still scheduled week 2 but they said they the have recently experienced cars at status 20 being delayed. Semi conductors are an issue but basic raw material have also started causing minor delays. They quantified minor as in days. I have to call back at week 3 to see if it was actually built.

They also said there were delays at ports in Germany and Poland (I think, apologies i have that wrong) and cars have been parked up there and they are having issues unparking them. Anything rolling off the production line recently have been going straight from the plant to the train to the boat skipping the queues at the ports.

Thats all I got so far.
