The rear light strip is still the most frustrating thing about the car. All the press photos have it turned on, none of the reviews mention it, and the build options don't really spell it out that it only works with the Matrix package (in Europe it seems).

My dealer had to physically check two of the cars on their lot to confirm it didn't light up, after they were convinced it did, and that was two months after we placed our order, by which point any changes in spec would put us to the back of the line and bump our price up to whatever it had been increased to after we ordered. Feels like such a miss from Audi to not have the strip light up as standard, it's such a visual selling point of the car. I'm clearly still bitter...

Nope, I complained to Audi and got a phone call from customer support who thanked me for my time and appreciated my comments to "Make Audi better" and "Not disappoint our customers" but they offered nothing.

I was wondering if anyone has received any form of compensation for this? I mean the software is not the greatest.
We took delivery of our Q4 in November 2021 and immediately had issues with the optional heads-up display. It will occasionally come on but then flicker and cut out or simply never come on at all. We duly sent the car in for servicing and were told it was a software issue that would be fixed soon. 9 months later, we finally lost patience and raised the issue with Audi UK who after quite a lot of negotiation agreed to send us £500 as compensation for the inconvenience. Of course, still no fix and starting to think there never will be but at least we're no longer out of pocket for a non-functioning extra.

It took persistence and holding firm but if you have particular identifiable issues that aren't being addressed it's well worth raising a complaint.

My dealer offered to 'negotiate' (no terms suggested) the return of my Q4. As supply is zero, secondhand prices are high and I had only driven a few hundred Km, his offer wasn't risking much.

However, list prices had since gone up, delivery of alternative cars (even no-longer- acceptable petrol ones) is say 12 to 16 months and there is currently nothing else on the market that I fancied, which is obviously why I bought it in the first place.

Realistically, I was left having to stick with it, trying to ignore as many of the problems that I could and hope a solution to the rest would turn up. Subsequently, I joined this Forum and am not so sure now!

I certainly was not going to keep quite about it though and am delighted to caution potential Audi buyers.

Happy customers who get their issue resolved tell about 4-6 people about their experience."

Is there a thread with a list of common problems somewhere? I've had my car for about 3 weeks and yet to see any software issues. I don't have Navigation/HUD though - wondering if many are related to that.

There are plenty of problems with a variety of issues. You will have to search around under Q4 or wider. The most chalenging ones are software related, are not being addressed by Audi and are difficult to correct as they do not have an over-the-air way of uploading upgrades, even if they had a fix.

Enjoy your car as best you can and hope you can live with any problems.

I've come to accept that there are software problems that will never be fixed, however if I use Android Auto I have a great experience and the car itself is brilliant 😂

Best to not read up on other EVs and what you're missing out on really, ignorance is bliss.

For my part I have our car for another two years which I'm going to try and enjoy. At this point I can't guarantee I will get another one but who knows what's going to happen in two years time.

Well, like I said I don't have any problems at all so I am definitely enjoying the car. Maybe it is a good thing they released the car so late in the US. I'll keep an eye out for issues.

I have read up on cars and cancelled my Model Y after it arrived and paid my non-refundable $250 deposit to Elon's twitter fund.

This is the best fit for us. The only other car I considered is a ID.4 and had one on order, but then a Q4 became available. There are no other SUVs except for the EQB which has lower range.

I'm not interested in one-pedal driving (big plus for me in the Q4) and want some buttons for climate control, mirrors etc. I don't really want continuous software updates in a car at all. However, what they should do is improve and fix all the issues which current users are seeing, figure out a way to update the cars (this seems to be something Audi is bad at), and then if possible only make important changes and not break stuff. Btw, I work for a major tech company and part my work involves helping push out software updates - so not speaking from lack of tech-savviness. I just think cars need to be cars. Also against automated driving myself and I actively decline any options that will take over control of the car. I would have loved the 360 camera though - that would have been useful.

The car I ordered and subsequently cancelled was a Q4 Vorspung Quattro, price well North of £60k . I cancelled because despite ordering November 2021 and being let down on original delivery of March 2022 then being told I wouldn't see it until 2023.
I seriously can't believe the poor quality of the car and faults. Audi has skimped on this car in every way. I loved the look of it and when ordering my heart ruled my head but now I'm in an IX3 BMW there is no comparison, yep the Audi definitely looks better but that is it. The interior and build quality and software is definitely not up to usual Audi standards, for god sake the rear parcel shelf rises on a couple of bits of string attached to the tail gate. Its basically a £30k car tops. Everything is an extra and by the time you get to a good spec you you spend £60k plus but still have the basic lack of quality.

Ihad a flat the other day in my 2019 e-tron, and it took me a while to find the flat kit. One would think it would be in the back with spare, but it is actually in the frunk, under the top tray.
The photo in the manual wasn’t real helpful, but that’s where I found it. I think it’s been 40 years since I had a flat. Hope that helps.

Edit: nevermind. You've got the fat e-tron and I was very confused.

What was the flat kit?

As noted previously as one of my Q4's 10 problems, I didn't get anything. The Dealer told me to call the breakdown service. Possibly, in a metropolitan area but not practical in many other parts of the world.

If you didn’t get the tyre repair kit then it is highly likely your vehicle is fitted with self sealing or run flat tyres.

In the UK region, the tyre sealing ‘gunk’ and compressor are only supplied with the base Sport trim which doesn’t come with self sealing tyres.

In most cases if the damage is severe enough for the self sealing tyre technology not to be sufficient then the gunk wouldn’t help either and therefore require a call out to Audi roadside assistance.
