My SQ6 was updated to 06XM on Wednesday. So far the car is much better - spotted a few minor niggles like the steering wheel not always returning to my driving position when getting in, but quite happy in general.

The myAudi app is still telling me that I need to book in for the 06XM campaign - how long does it take for the message to clear?
Great to hear the update went well. It should update at Audi and vanish from the app in 2-3 days.

That's good, although according to this you still need the December update (06XL) to get the latest fixes which also isn't OTA. I wonder if the message you are getting has the wrong release number?

The release naming is confusing and so over-complicated - surely XM should be the update after XL? And of course both of these updates leave the "version number" at the same 03.01.00. Utterly baffling, you wonder if they have a clue what the are doing. Zero effort to make this understandable to the masses, and I am certain that dealers are equally confused.

To be fair, the masses don’t keep track of their car software or what service campaigns are. They get a letter in the mail or an app notice they need to bring their car in for service and they hopefully do it.

Nor do Audi update their online service logs to show when the car has been in and had the updates applied.

I think those expectations are changing for cars, especially ones with so much technology (and bugs). Increasingly people do know, and part of the attraction of the vehicle is it can get better and be fixed (ideally OTA but that's another story).

I'd liken modern cars to smartphones - most of us DO know when we get the latest version of iOS or Google OS, and we certainly know and get annoyed when we have bugs (which is rare - something Audi should be seriously concerned about not being able to do). Like it or not, cars are now smarter and the ability to update reliably and regularly is becoming table stakes. Keeping it all cryptic and dealer-only is not the way forward, especially when they just built a whole new software org so they could do all this better.

I get where you're coming from and also would like Audi's software process to be completely overhauled, but as a parallel, most people I know couldn't tell me which minor release of iOS they're on. Some of them don't even know what major version they're on. Same with Tesla owners I know - most couldn't tell me what version their car is on.

A lot of EV buyers to date who post in forums like this are those more willing to adopt new things, not really representative of the masses.

I would hope that the dealer system scans the vehicle and advises them all updates that are required rather than relying on customers to advise them what to do.

I'll give it another few days and if we get past a week with the update message still showing I'll give Audi a call

I believe the dealer uses Elsa Pro, when the car chassis is entered it informs them of what updates are required.

A form is then completed to show an update or work has been performed.
