After having my Q6 for a month and issues with the safety feature alerts and no key user profile loading on MMI I’ve finally received a notification in the app this evening that the car needs to come in for an update, hopefully all these issues will finally be resolved.

Do Audi provide a courtesy can while it’s in?

When you call up to book it in, ask for a courtesy car. Do not leave without one incase you have issues. You may have to wait a week or so for them to be able to provide one.

The 3.01 update is a major software update, and requires a set of interactions by the techs whilst being performed. As time goes on and the updates are more reliable they may eventually do OTA. As you will have seen the update has been problematic for some cars so for now at least this is the only route.

Only minor updates are done OTA ( MMI DB).
I’m supposed to pick up my car on Tuesday. The car is fresh off the boat. It appears I should tell them I want the 3.01 update before it accepting it. Is that right? I have a 150 mile drive to get it back home. Any worries if it doesn’t have 3.01 on it yet for that trip? (Unfortunately the dealer at home couldn’t put their hands on the right car for me so I had to go out of town.)

Depending when the car left the factory will determine what version software is on it. Just calll and ask them to ensure it’s on the car before collection to be safe. Will save having to take the car back for an update later.

My Q6 went in yesterday for it's update, I was told it would be in for the day, then by 10am they said they needed it over night and possibly longer. They did provide me an office for the morning and then a loan car in fairness. Waiting to see when it comes back, they did say to me that every ECU on my car will have new software! Can't wait.....I wonder what won't work now!
which update is being applied ? and me too : ".I wonder what won't work now!" , but hopefully all good this time :D :D

My car was updated at the end of November last year, which was recall 06XM. Recently I received a message that I needed to update the car again. I was told that the new recall action is 06XL. I asked about what the update consists of, but the service guy could only mention generic things. My car is being updated now, hopefully it goes smoother then the two days of updating in November (Yes I know it can be worse ;-) )
My car now booked in 3 weeks for the 06XM update I skipped in December, so curious to see how that goes. They booked the car for 2 days ‘from experience’ and I get free replacement car…

Its finally showing on my app today.

When I spoke with the audi tech at the dealership as I kicked off wanting to understand what the software update due to the rubbish a lot of us have been put through, he said the main reason is to solve the car locking its self and not being accessible!!

He said there were some other minor points of software improvement but nothing else fundamental was listed.

That is generally it, the notes for it make me laugh " The software update improves some functions that were attempted to be delivered in 06XM"

So they know it was a bad update, and looking across the forums, people who have had the 06XL update are still having issues.

If you have a faulty control unit, or one that is less responsive to be polite then no updates are going to fix the issues.

I received the notification at the end of last week to book in for 06XM and first appointment I have is 25th Feb (no courtesy car or collect/return - it was longer if I needed those). I am puzzled about the details of the update numbering as it seems 06XL being stated as newer than 06XM and that there is also 06XG (I think) in circulation.

I work in IT and it is completely baffling why 06XL would be newer than 06XM which common sense would say follows in sequence, and 06XG was being listed as newer again. Is it confirmed that 06XM isn't the newest?

Additionally why on earth would Audi want to apply an update to my car which isn't the most recent?

Campaign 06XM is the main 03.01.00 /C software, if you had this update then 06XL mainly to fix issues with the car locking people out.

When the workshop connects/enters your chassis number in Elsa Pro it will give the appropriate updates don't worry.

In the US there is an 06XG also referring to lockout issues, posted in the US Dec 20. Has anyone gotten that yet? Mine was delivered last week on 3.01.00/C, apparently applied in the port since the car was produced in Oct '24.

I've been away for a few days and have come back to a trio of service campaigns in the App, 2 of which have already been carried out.

Thats a bit of a joke - Is there another dealer you could try?

I just called regarding my car and they offered this Thursday or any day from next week.

it seems that 06XG in the US is similar to 06XL on this side of the pond.

I think that local dealers are so scared of doing updates incase they end up with a car stuck waiting for parts and using one of their cars... reading forums it now seems that this is common practice to try and not to give a courtesy car. Even though Audi have a central agreement with Enterprise...

It may be time to only "fix what is broken". Traditionally I'm used to dealers only applying fixes when you have the problem--not replacing what works. So far (day 4) everything seems good.

lol are you surprised, they told everyone before Christmas they were on 3.01 even before they had the update.

How is your car doing?
I've hardly driven it for a fortnight, so nothing further to report this time.
I'm just catching up on here after some time in the Alps. It seems that more errors are still being discovered. I'd really hoped that the situation would improve after the updates.
