Hi we have recently had exactly the same issue with our e tron launch edition and water coming into the footwell nightmare how did Audi rectify the situation? Did they replace the carpet in the car?
Hi, I've got the exact same issue in my 2019 launch edition. I've got it booked in next week but wondering if they will also replace the carpets and stained headlining.

Hi All,
After having my e-tron Launch Edition 11/2019 in at the dealer for sunroof leak twice, the leak is back. Heavy rains overnight and puddles in the passenger footwell 😫. Will book it in again, but have zero confidence the dealer knows what to do. Worried I'll be left with this problem after the warranty expires.

Anyone in UK had a dealer that has sorted this problem yet once and for all ?

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim,

I had the same issue with water ingress, and struggled to get the car booked in with Audi. In the end there was standing water in the footwells for 2 months, water dripping from behind the dash every time it rained and visible water marks on the headlining.

I got fed up with waiting for the issue to be fixed and was worried about what lasting damaged the water might cause to the electronics behind the dash so requested a full refund, Audi collected the car and processed a full refund in the end.

It might be worth trying a different dealership maybe as I've found some dealerships great but others can be dreadful.

Thanks

Thanks Dab2302.
That's a worry that Audi will not able to fix it my biggest concern is the damage that will happen post warranty. It booked in for 5th of January, I think I'll get Audi UK involved to make sure the dealer doesn't bodge.

I’ve owned my Etron for just over a year and am suddenly discovering a water puddle in the passenger footwell every time it rains. Is anyone ele having this problem? Will obviously discuss with dealer but wondered if it was simply a case of checking drain holes under the bonnet or similar.
Hi
Did this issue get finally solved for you ? I have the same problem and worried this issue will continue up until the end of my warranty.

Thanks Jim

Had the same leakage problem with my 2019 launch edition (edition one) here in California. The Palo Alto dealer did know about the problem and rare heavy rains had brought numerous e-trons in for repair around the same time. They said the fix specified by Audi involved new sunroof seals but no mention of the drains. Have had no rain since, so unable to confirm the fix works...

Good to know. I hope it works for you. @paclifton

My car has just come back from spending 4 weeks at the dealer here in Peterborough UK.

They have applied all the TSBs available in Europe and after drenching the car for hours cannot replicate the leak that occurs when the vehicle is moving. I have taken the headliner down and tried everything to get the car to leak in the garage but cannot.

Until the car actually leaks under test Audi refusing to pay the dealer to fix anything.

Quite a weird situation.

Does your car have an opening sunroof? If so the drain channels might be blocked so when it rains the water overflows and runs down inside the trim.
I had it on my 2019 etron. Audi took out everything inside, also the seats to replace the protective cover on the floor. I have requested Audi to take back The car. I am afraid it Will be worth less when potential buyers learn that it has been "flooded"

After a night of rain, where I had my e-tron parked in a small forward incline. The passenger footwell was soaking wet and forming a puddle half an inch deep. Water was running down the inside panel from where the glove compartment ended.

When I started to drive, I could hear water splash from side to side somewhere. Took it straight to the dealer, and are now waiting to hear from them. The 2 year warranty ended a month ago.

-- Update, Jan 4th
My local Audi dealer has confirmed that the issue was that water had accumulated in the sunroofs wind deflector. The car is drying at the dealer. No information yet on what they have done to fix, so that it dosen't happen again. Will update!

Hi all. I’m just wondering if this issue has finally been fixed? My 2022 e-tron which I bought a few weeks ago has water in the foam below the front passenger trim that was only found when a dashcam installer lifted the floor to wire a battery backup. Mine does not have a sunroof though and it was just in the garage yesterday. They’re not sure where the water is coming from but think they need to remove the dash!!

Curious to know if anyone has experienced this in Europe / The Netherlands? I seem to have the same issue right now. My pictures match what is in this thread perfectly. I've only found limited material so far and unsure how dealers 'deal' with the problem here.

I’ve just bought a 2020 e-tron which leaks from the sunroof in even moderate rain. Have played with it and the leaks seem to be from the interior seal - the drains are running clear. Audi UK being very unhelpful - almost like they’ve never heard of the issue. Local dealer just says they need to investigate.

I had this issue few month ago. Very wet left side front foot well. I used a 3mm wire, about 1m long to unblock the sunroof drains. I didn’t notice much resistance at all.
Then I dropped 5mm of Scotch hair & grease remover that I had in the drain hole on each side. I took the risk because if leakage if from head area you might stain the fabric. Mine was only below glovebox and I left loads of towels to catch excess if any. It’s been raining mad since and never leaked again.
car had a service 4months before it leaked and one of the items on the list was that they did maintenance for sunroof drains. Probably they didn’t.
it took a good 10days for footwell carpet to dry properly even though I used a lot of towels to catch water as much as possible.
The sign before I noticed wet carpet was that front windscreen was mostly fogged up when car was parked over night for a couple of days before leakage was noticed.

same here with my 50 mid 2020. Purchased it one month ago as a Audi Plus car. My first Audi, and directly a shitty experience. After 1,5 week i noticed the issue of leaking water. Exactly the same like the pictures above. Wet roof, left and right, and wet feet area. I am now arguing with the dealer who shall solve it. The local dealer, for now, does not accept the claim to solve it as the factory warranty has expired. Still waiting the Audi dealer where I purchased the car for final reaction. Curious how this ends. Probably hand it over to a lawyer. How did others solve this issues?

We had the wind deflector TSB service performed less than a year ago under warranty (2019). Now the dealer says that the drains are clogged and requires a $768 cleaning. Feels like another class action lawsuit is in order (or tack it onto the current lawsuit).

Wow, sounds like bullshit. In the Audi-app I found that it is recommended cleaning the roof-draines every month (or soo). After purchasing this special 1.4m long roofdrain cleaning wire brush I cleaned both draines. They where fully free without any significant durt or what ever inside. Still I have water in the car. And unbelivable that problem actually is twofault; 1) the panoroof rubbers are leaking 2) the drains do not drain the water properly.

This is my first Audi and I experience that the Audi service (untill now) and simpel car-quality items like water tightness, is really shitty. With the poor quality together with the shockingly low battery range I now understand why the Germans very rapidly are loosing they Nr.1 position in the car industry to China..

In the meantime I am still e-mailing with the dealer. The say they are not familiar with the issue and need the car for inspection for 2 days... The internet is full of leaking E-tron's and they still pretending never heared of the issue.
