I've removed one of the fins so that you can see how it would look, and as you can see it does not look great. The fin is actually L-shaped in piano balck with an additional insert in aluminium covered plastic.

Thank you for taking this picture. It looks horrible
What do you think about just making the fins black?

Seriously THANK YOU for posting these images as I have been wondering about this for a while. I just planned on wrapping these panels to match the flat black wrap I intend for the car. I figured the gloss black would tie to the other trim on the vehicle that wouldn’t be wrapped and create a nice contrast/tie together.

I remain very concerned about after market wheels. As much as I want to step up to 22” with -1 tires to keep the rolling circumference the same, I am worried about things like vehicle weight and range reduction … even though the overall tire/wheel circumference would be the same. EV’s are so heavy and people never consider that wheels have a maximum sprung weight they are rated on. Most wheels simply do not accommodate for the extra weight of the EV.

Finally, on my Tesla, I kept 19” with winter tires for winter driving … smaller wheels made up a little for loss of range in the cold. The Tesla would notice when I changed wheels and ask me what size they were to ensure the systems were properly calibrated for the new wheel size. Does the Audi have similar settings? If you change the rolling diameter of the wheel/tire, how does the system update and recalibrate?

NP here is another picture of the panel from behind as you can see the two round clips hold the sliver trim to the L shaped black trim, so you can in theory remove the silver trim to be wrapped without unscrewing the fins.

I have wrapped 2 of the silver fins in carbon fibre.

Not sure what looks best the original silver or the carbon fibre finish.

Before I wrap them all what do others think?

This is awesome and exactly what I intend to do to mine when the car is finally in my hands. I ordered more of a gloss black carbon fiber though to match the existing trim and interior.

Thanks for posting images!

KB01 Brixton in white (photoshopped) is what I'm thinking tho. These were custom made for my Tesla X but I think they work well with any EV due to the modern "voltage" theme design.

Note that finding off the shelf wheels for the GT is going to be tough as the car needs the highest offsets I've ever seen on a vehicle, 60 FR and 66 R and also uses a rare bp - 5x30. Taycan Oem or forged custom wheels are about it. Any other oem Audi wheel as mentionioned earlier are not going to be the correct offset. Taycan or custom only.

I managed to get some that have had the decals removed so all black, gonna replace these with the standard alloys that come with the GT quattro.

I think you can only get these in the UK on the RS vorsprung and above.

Personally I think they look cleaner without the fussy lines.
Please detail the procedure to remove the decals off these wheels. The lines look terrible, I always thought the wheels were machined but if they are indeed stickers thats great news. Did you do it or have it done? Only a fingernail to get in and just pull off or do you need a liquid solution?

De-stickering and a gloss cf wrap on the blades to match the other cf trim wins the "Mod of the year award!". Great work.

Has someone sourced the correct film to match the CF yet? Avery, 3m, or other brand as to the closest weave and shine to Oem? Please post your findings to save us all time.

Saving oem!

This is the final touch to finish off the wheel correctly...

Hi

A company did it prior to buying the wheels I believe they have simply removed the decals, as the wheels look like they have not been re-powder coated.

I would just try and pick them off with your nail, I would imagine that if they are on top of the clearcoat you will feel the edge. If that is true use a hair dryer to losen the glue and they should just peel off. If however you cannot feel an edge they must be under the clearcoat.

Yes the wheel do look much better in black with CF fins... love the image above.
