Thanks for all these images. Even though these were more RS-focused, they helped me to crystallize what I wanted. When my non-RS GT starts its wrap-work next week, the shop will also powder-coat the rims in a Satin Charcoal like the HREs I had on my RS7, and the calipers will get a satin finish of a specific maroon red color I find appealing.

Hi everyone. I'm about to purchase an all black etron GT with the 21" wheels but the only 21" wheel option on the GT is all monochrome in platinum/titanium (black with titanium not an option on the 21" wheels for the GT in the US sadly).

Does anyone have a recommendation if I can swap the wheels out anywhere for the black+titanium/platinum? (I'm in LA).

Or does anyone think I should just powdercoat the whole thing in black?

Ugh I wish there were better wheel options on this car!

Hi

If you are talking about these wheels you could make them all black

Image

the silver inserts screw out from the back, and could either be painted or wrapped in black, just doing that would provide a more interest alternatively you could also powder coat the wheels too when the inserts are removed. That would give you the full black look, alternativey you could see if they can powder coat, and ask them to diamond cut the rim and keep the inserts the same colour, that way you will get the look of the standard black and silver finsihed wheel.

I have updated the RS 21" Concept wheels to be mainly black and I think they look much better for it.

Yes that's the wheel -- all platinum/titanium. Wow, I had no idea those were inserts and yes all of your ideas are great. Would u recommend a semi-gloss black or full glossy black powder coat on the wheels (not the inserts) against a mythos black GT? Also, do you have any recommendations on shops in southern California that could do all of this (especially the diamond cut exterior rims)

Thank you for your advice and insight!

NP here is another picture of the panel from behind as you can see the two round clips hold the sliver trim to the L shaped black trim, so you can in theory remove the silver trim to be wrapped without unscrewing the fins.

Any tips how to remove/unclick the panels from the holder. Screw driver? At what place? Any risk to damage the panels? Thanks

I am in Orange County and had my wheels powder coated in gloss black by SSR Performance in Orange. They are not the cheapest but do really good, high-end work. There are shops all over the place that do powder coating, just make sure they are legit and do a lot of this kind of work (I have seen mobile detailers that offer powdercoating for example which I would avoid).

I would say there is a risk more around removing the screws, of the 20 panels one broke on removal. But if I was a little less heavy handed on removing the bolts I would imagine it would have been fine.

The concept wheels silver inserts are quite easy to remove, I found through practice the best way to remove was to slide something between the silver and the black plastic to place the insert under tension, then take pliers and squeeze the round clip and the first side just pops out. The gently lift the panel over the central securing bolt (part of the black l-shaped piece). The other clip can be compressed by rotating the silver panel anti-clockwise looking at the back of the insert.

Hope that makes some sense. I have ordered a replacement insert for the one I broke so when that arrives I will tale some pictures of the process if that helps.

It's personal preference but I would say the easiest would be to remove the inserts and then have the wheels powder coated, mine are high gloss.

I would personally wrap the inserts as they are probably quite high risk of being chipped, that way you can renew the wrap if you get any dings. Wrapping the inserts can be done really easily.

I think the all black would look really good with the mythos black bodywork.

Alternatively you could experiment with a contrasting colour on your inserts, as they are really easy to change.

Good luck 👍

The inserts are plastic?

Does anyone have a picture of how the 21" GT all titanium wheel inserts screw into the wheels? I want to make sure my powdercoat guys can handle this fairly easily by sending them a picture of the way they're screwed in etc . Thanks!

They are attached by 3 bolts, looks like it's simpler than the concept wheels having only one part. So hopefully will just be a case of unbolting them, and then putting them back on when you have had them painted.

Also a picture of how they would look having them powder coated and putting the inserts back on unaltered.

I was in the dealership today picking up a replacement insert and they had ordered both types to be sure I got the right one.

I can confirm they are too plastic, and held with 3 bolts. See picture
