24 Q8 etron - on Friday I drove about 5 miles to a grocery store. When I started my car I noticed electrical system malfunction! Please contact Service (in yellow). I called them and made an appointment for later that day. Drove back home message stayed up until I turned car off. Drove the car to lunch and then dealer about 20 miles. No message and car drove fine. Car is at dealer waiting to hear back.
I had a similar problem after the dealer had the car for 3 weeks it was determined that the 12-volt battery was weak, it was replaced no problem since.

My car is still at the dealer. Have not heard back. Yesterday I got an alert on my app Electrical system: malfunction! Safely stop vehicle (red). I looked at my lowjack and the car was at the dealer in the parking lot. I looked at my app and they had windows down, lights on and hood open. Later yesterday that message cleared and the car was inside a bay. Later on I got a message again I got the yellow message that says please contact service. I see they moved the car today but the message is still there and has not cleared. I guess I will find out later this week what is wrong.

Did this ever get resolved?

I’ll join the list, 2021 E-Tron, bought new in August 2021. Electrical System Malfunction in yellow on Friday evening on my way home from the office, red on Saturday morning running errands locally. I took it in to Audi this morning, they’ve since called back to say the front electric motor needs to be replaced. I’m at 101,000kms…. According to Audi, my warranty is up at 80,000kms. They have indicated that it’s approximately $14,000 CDN to replace the motor… any help here with a warranty argument would be massively appreciated. The car drives perfectly, no indication that it’s underpowered or anything as if half the propulsion were not working correctly… I’m incredibly angry and uncertain of a solution other than going public, I’ll add that I also had a garage fire resulting from the Audi wall charger last summer… hasn’t been a great ownership experience.

Checking in. Had the message come up twice now, upon switching the car on, stationary. Within 10-15 seconds it's gone and allows me to start. Car then proceeds to drive ok. Doesn't happen every time I start, but here's the kicker...

...those two occasions count for about 50% of total starts!! The car is brand new, first message occured the day after I collected! Will keep an eye on it but this thread doesn't fill me with much hope...

I never had it happen or anything wrong with the car until 15k miles. I would for sure take it in before you get stranded.

Checking in with my story 2024 Q8 e tron bought 9 months ago 2400 miles. Got the same error when starting up from a parking lot, was 80% full at the time. It wouldn't get out of park, had to tow it to dealership. They cleared codes, did a test drive and it happened to the technician while on the highway. They're going to have to bring down the battery to replace a module, though not sure which one.

You won't believe this, I got this message on the way back to the dealership to return my 21 e-tron with 29,714 miles on 36 month lease with addtional 4 month extension.

At first I got the Electrical system: malfunction! Safely stop vehicle message in yellow, then after another 2 miles the errors went to red lights, and literally as I was pulling into the dealership, the electrical systems made a loud sound of failing and jolted forward with an additional message "Drive System warning limited performance". It sounded scary like the electric motor failing.

At first the the dealer said you need to take it into service before he would ground the lease, but I read the forum posts and didn't want to tell him that might take 2 months, so I persuaded him to let me ground the car and let him submit into service after, so I wouldn't be charged additional months of lease. Luckily I did a lease end inspection a few days ago with no issues, and I called audi financial afterwords and they said there were no charges and their system shows the car was returned. Never buying any ev after this, and it must be why all ev's have terrible resale value after 3 years.

My recommendation is for everyone to dump this car before the 4 year-50,000 mile warranty finishes. The industry standard for ev warranty should be 8-10 years otherwise these are all going to the scrap yard.

I replaced this car with a 24 month lease on a cadillac lyriq for much less price, and the lyriq feels like a much more premium exterior and interior than the audi e-tron, lyriq has much better range and better suspension and much faster acceleration, only thing I liked better on the e-tron was the way it took corners felt sharper, the braking was the same.

Congratulations on the new Caddy. If it was J3400, which it likely will be in a few years, I might be tempted.

EV resale prices have varied a lot. I replaced my 2012 LEAF with a 2014 after the 2012 was totaled. Used EVs were selling at prices close to new in 2014. Later I sold my 2014 to my son for $1000 when I could have sold to Carvana for $7000 in 2022.

Etron has varied as well:

But I sort of agree. Technology is improving, a newer EV is likely to have more range, faster charging speed and so on, so is going to make the older EVs look less attractive. Yet this will be considered in the lease pricing. Pay more money for a lease, or keep the car a little longer and pay less? And reliability is unknown with so much new technology, especially with the first models in production. The 2011-2013 LEAFs had horrible battery life in hot climates, and were just OK in cooler ones. 2014 and later are much better. I would expect that Audi motor problems will be fixed so future cars will not have that problem. Launch year editions are likely bad bets, and there have been a lot of EV model launches.. So the lease looks better for the first couple of years of production.

Looks like I'm joining the club on my 2022 e-tron sportback. 28,250mi on the car zero issues before, purchased January 22. I've been hearing a low volume gear type mid-range whining noise between 15 and 40 mph for the past week or so. Luckily it gave me All These Warnings a thousand feet from the house so I pulled in unloaded the family power cycled it and no more warning lights. went back out on my street to test it and shut down on me in the middle of the road 500ft from the house. I power cycled it again and got it back to my driveway. Tow truck came the next morning got it dropped at the dealership with a nice Q7 loaner yesterday. Let see what happens!

Just got mine back after2.5 months at the dealership, I had a sporadic Charging system malfunction message, Dealer replaced rear drive motor and transmission due to coolant mixing, then needed #7 controller in the HV battery. Its been quite the journey. Costs all covered by Audi NA. And rightfully so... My car has 25k miles and is a 2019.

This just happened to my 2024 Q8 e-Tron after a night of level 2 charging. Car is at 80% charge but when I power it up I get the electric system malfunction warning and all-wheel drive system malfunction warning.

Would you guys recommend I bring it back to the dealership I originally leased from? How would it work if I took it to a different service department closer to my house and I decide to pursue lemon law?

Front drive motor failure. Luckily parts are available. Here's a photo of the coolant with lots of particles in it. View attachment 13715
Repair took 2 weeks, drives like new. I'm very glad they extended the motor warranty to 10 years 120k. I'm sure I'll have to do a rear motor eventually. I asked what the price was if i was out of warranty advisor said $8700! Now lets see what they do on this battery recall...

Go to any dealer you want. I went to a different dealership to get my front motor Replaced. As for the Lemon Law I think you have to have two or three failures within a certain amount of time.
