California does not really enforce the front license plate law. If you watch other cars pass, you will notice about 25% percent of them don't have a front license plate. I been driving my Ford Thunderbird around town for 20 years and I have never had a front license plate on it. No problem. If you do get caught you can put it on and the fine is very small. I will be getting my GT in late October (I hope) and I am not putting the license plate on the front of it.
Agree haven’t had a front plate on my last four cars. If you park on the street in some cities I’ve heard the will get you. Iva had zero issues. Even got pulled over once but that wasn’t even mentioned.

I've been driving 4 cars with no front plates in Texas for a decade for 300k+ miles and never got an issue with it.

The only time it came up was when my son tried to take a driving test and they didn't let him because the car wasn't road legal for the missing plate. So now his car, after 200k+ miles, has a front plate.

Well good news for those of us in CA as we now have another option. I never ended up putting on the front plate and haven't had any issues

Here is where you can order:
hahaha That's really interesting!

Thanks for that. I’ve never had a problem, but if I start to, it will be nice to have this as a fallback option.

Anybody with the Platypus from Cravenspeed or the Rhoplate able to take a pic from the side from maybe 8-10 feet away? Trying to get perspective on how those solutions look.

We had an all-stainless mount on my wife's Panamera. It held up well over the years. Kinda just got used to how it looked after a while. It was a bit industrial, but the adjustments allowed the plate to fit in a tiny window between the park sensors.

The GT is her daily and she needs a front plate for the HOV lane enforcement.
In Virginia, a missing front tag won't get you pulled in normal circumstances, but they will pull you for any sort of HOV lane violations. Including not having a front tag.

I like the "sticker" idea, but I don't know it it'd be good enough to pass the LEO eyeball test at highway speeds.

edit:

Platypus, a lot going on in the background though... hope zooming in helps. You can adjust how close it is, it doesn't feel too far out.

Have the Cravenspeed too. Let me know if you need another angle. Perfect solution to not destroy the grill. Haven’t had any issues with sensors.

However it is mounted this should be behind the plate to protect the paint. These silicone license plate frame are great.

I made my own sticker plate. I got the colors a bit too bright so I'll do a reprint in a few days.
If I found someone locally to do this for me, what materials/process did you use?

I know next-to-nothing about modern printing. Which is strange as I worked on a web press for a while when I was very young.

I live in Texas and have friends who have been hit with 'no front plate', and have felt the pain of the citation. So when my car (currently on order) arrives I hope some of these front plate options have been worked out so there are several to chose from (I like the wrap option).

I do know of a premium supplier of tow hook mounts, at least for Porsche/Volkswagen, but I don't know if these guys make front two hook plate holders for etron GTs yet. I had one of them for my recently sold 911S and Cayenne S, and my wife's Golf GTI, so they tend to have holders for enthusiast cars. I will check out this link and report back to the forum if they have one in work, or already made, for etron GTs.

Update: I've been working with Cravenspeed on testing holders for the GT. They're shipping me a new tow hook stud that will bring the plate closer to the bumper - decreasing the distance from 1 inch to a little less than half an inch. (see pictures earlier with the 1 inch space.) Once we finalize on the right stud length, Cravenspeed will make official part numbers and a kit ready to order for the GT. I'll also ask about a plate mount that can shift slightly closer to center.
Hi @EricS, can you please let me know if Cravenspeed bracket is still working well for you? Also, do you know if they created a part number? I will be calling the on Monday. Thanks.

Hi @Fred The Cravenspeed has been working great for me. I tried 4 or 5 different bolt lengths with them before we landed on the right size - this was before they had an official offering. The last one I tried was perfect and I sent them that info. They were supposed to send me a production version after that, but they must have forgotten.

It's currently on their website as Pick Your Car - Audi - e-tron GT - 2022 - CravenSpeed.com. It lists model years 2021 and 2022, which isn't right, but I'll forgive them for not knowing the model starts at 2022. Also, the picture is wrong - the picture shows the tow hook mount way on the side of the frame, when on mine, it's near the center. You might confirm with them when you call, and you can mention you want the same as what EricS got from working with them. I worked with Danielle at Cravenspeed last September on this.

Hi @EricS, Much appreciated. I will call them on Monday.

Love my Cravenspeed on regular etron. Had another etron owner ask when I was charging in MD. Haven’t had issues with fit or sensors.
